I've been following Rand Paul's statements on "repealing and replacing Obamacare" for some time. Several of those earlier videos are below.
But one fundamental point that none of the politicians or pundits had directly answered: I would like to know whether or not Trump and these republicans who keep saying "replace" obamacare are going to keep health insurance compulsory in America? No one is being direct and honest about this.
As most conservatives, I do not believe that the government should compel anyone to buy any product, including health insurance or even auto insurance. That is the fundamental issue.
The problem is that Democrats and Republican statists nationwide, on both a federal and state level, have supported compulsory auto insurance for years, and Obama actually used that fact as a justification for Obamacare when he first started pushing it.
Senator Rand Paul was finally asked about the mandate today by a local talk show host. But Paul, who I believed is well-intentioned on this matter and supports the free market, his answer left a lot to be desired, and was far from clear. Here is the transcript and the audio.
