Americas political system is too debauched to fix. One-party governance with two right wings constitutes fantasy democracy, voting a waste of time, a worthless exercise. Dirty business as usual always wins. On all issues mattering most, column A and B are in lockstep. All the uproar going on reflects contesting for power. Over the longterm, both sides take turns sharing it, serving wealth and privilege at the expense of the general welfare, a deplorable situation, each administration turning out worse than its predecessor. The Times supported the Clinton co-presidency, Bush/Cheney and Obama, ignoring 24 years of high crimes at home and abroad - the worst period in US history since the Civil War years. The self-styled newspaper of record blasted Trumps administration as dysfunctional and dishonest, ill prepared
to protect the nation - from what it didnt explain. No enemies exist except invented ones. Deep state long knives targeted Michael Flynn, the best hope for better relations with Russia now gone. Trump erred in sacking his key foreign policy advisor, weakening himself in process, making others in his administration vulnerable. The Times was a co-conspirator against Flynn, calling him a hothead and an ideologue
not fit to be national security adviser, adding: That Mr. Trump clung to such a compromised person in such a sensitive position is at best an abysmal failure of judgment. All this puts more pressure on Congress to act. The Times wants Trump officials investigated. It wants more heads to roll, his administration wrecked. Its seething over his electoral triumph, defeating Hillary, its favorite. It wants revenge. It wants imperial and neoliberal harshness the way its been for the last generation continued uninterrupted - no matter the enormous harm done to so many worldwide, including adversarial relations maintained with all independent nations, notably Russia. Conditions in America are deplorable, including endless wars of aggression, corporate favoritism at the expense of ordinary people, and tyranny heading for full-blown. Dantes Inferno comes to mind, saying (a)bandon hope, all ye who enter here. Is this where America is heading, along with planet earth if its endless war on humanity continues?
