And what are the Israelis doing? Bombing Syrian Arab Army positions near the Lebanese border. Because as we all know, the Israelis are really good at these "ceasefire" things. Especially when they have no business interfering in any way in a conflict: Minutes ago, an Israeli warplane conducted an airstrike over the western countryside of Damascus, targeting the Syrian Arab Armys (SAA) positions in the Qalamoun Mountains near the Lebanese border. A Syrian Army source told Al-Masdar this morning that the Israeli warplane had crossed into Syria after flying over Lebanons Arsal Barrens, where both Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State (ISIS) are headquartered in the eastern Beqaa Governorate. The Syrian Army source added that the specific location of the attack was in the Jard Nalhleh area of the Qalamoun Mountains. Oh, isn't that interesting? The Israelis flew over ISIS and al-Qaeda positions but saved their bombs for the Syrians. Quite telling. #Breaking: Reports of #Israeli Airstrikes pound #SAA positions near Al-Quteifa on #Damascus-#Homs highway Majd Fahd (@Syria_Protector) February 22, 2017 There were no reported casualties. #Syria #Damascus #Syrian Journalist : Hear the sounds of a series of explosions North of #القطيفة Al Qutayfah #Qutayfah http://pic.twitter.com/mw9qquXnZY Ivan Sidorenko (@IvanSidorenko1) February 22, 2017 If Israel admits that it did indeed bomb a sovereign state unprovoked (which is unlikely to happen), it will probably claim that it was targeting "terrorists" such Hezbollah. The problem is that Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has made it clear that Russia thinks Hezbollah has played an important role in defeating ISIS in Syria. A bit of a diplomatic pickle for the Israelis, no? Israel doesn't want to return Syrian land that it stole, so it needs the war in Syria to continue. These airstrikes aren't too surprising. Shoot them down then attack their airfields - arrogant pigs Sister Charlotte/ Tony You need to read Ezekiel chapters 36-39, Zechariah 12-14...if you fight against Israel you are fighting against the very G-D f all creation...These are the latter days and G-D says HE is the defender of Israel...Israel had no homeland and was not a Nation for 2000 years...May 14, 1948 she became a nation fulfilling Ezekiel 36 & 37..get on the winning team!!! Hope to see you on the other side! Tatarewicz/ Sister Charlotte she (Israel) became a nation Israel not a legal nation; just a band of squatters using armed force to gain property, contrary to domestic and international laws. This is a violation of Balfour in which Britain authorized peaceful settlement by Jews in Palestine. Invading Jews formed gangs which carried an insurrection against the British garrison, another illegal act. Jews financed arms purchases with counterfeit banknotes, also unlawful. Any independent court would find acquisition illegal, return the property to Palestinians and assess damages in the trillions against Israelis and associates. What kind of God would defend a bunch of psychopathic thieves? tom /Voxpopuli It's a matter of proportion. As far as humanly possible, the Russians try to handle everything in accordance with international law and without alienating anyone avoidably. Now it would certainly have been legal to shoot down that Israeli plane, but as Marcus points out, it would be giving the enemy a huge free opportunity to lie and misrepresent Russia's motives. Moreover, the Israelis and NATO combined could do a lot more to harm the Russians than they have done so far. By keeping absolutely to the law and doing everything by the book, the Russians minimize the chances of their enemies to malign them and build up a case for war. Ironically, these Russian policies are the only hope that we Western civilians have of staying alive. It's quite literally the Russians, Mr Putin and the citizens of the Western nations against the MICC, Israel, the banks and Western political leaders. Such a complex chess game occasionally demands sacrifices. If Mr Putin refused to nuke Istanbul - or any of the other harsh responses that were demanded - after the Russian Su-24 was shot down in cold blood (a deliberate, carefully planned murder if ever there was one) he can probably sit on his hands when an Israeli plane illegally drops bombs without (apparently) harming anyone. We can probably assume that words have been exchanged with Tel Aviv, though. Mark Meyers /Tony Unfortunately, Russia and Israel are allies. Culturally so, and in trade. Russian is the second most spoken language in Israel - they even have a Russian TV station there. They could be reliant upon Israel perhaps regarding trade or relations, and I'll bet you know the cards Israel will play. Post Comment Private Reply Ignore Thread
