War Criminal Obama Wins JFK Profile in Courage Award

by Stephen Lendman

Obama is no JFK!

Despite committing horrific war crimes straightaway in office, Nobel committee members awarded him their 2009 peace prize, further mocking its legitimacy - honoring criminality, snubbing worthy recipients.

Obama boasted about being at war throughout his tenure - after promising to end wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

They rage endlessly. Obama raped Libya, Syria and Yemen, replaced democracy in Ukraine with fascist tyranny, partnered with Israeli wars on Gaza, waged drone wars in multiple theaters, largely killing civilians, and enforced police state ruthlessness domestically.

Days earlier, he was named the 2017 JFK Profile in Courage award winner, a travesty about what it’s supposed to represent, an award ceremony scheduled on May 7 at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston.

Established in 1989 by members of Jack Kennedy’s family, it “recognizes a public official (or officials) at the federal, state or local level whose actions demonstrate the qualities of politically courageous leadership in the spirit of Profiles in Courage, President Kennedy’s 1957 Pulitzer prize- winning book, which recounts the stories of eight US Senators who risked their careers by embracing unpopular positions for the greater good.”

A bipartisan committee selected by JFK Library Foundation members choose winners. Past recipients include Gerald Ford, GHW Bush, John McCain, other congressional members, Kofi Annan, earlier US-installed Ukrainian puppet Viktor Yushchenko, among many others.

In presenting the 2017 award, Caroline Kennedy, JFK’s daughter, disgracefully said “(w)ith exceptional dignity and courage, President Obama has carried that torch into our own time, providing young people of all backgrounds with an example they can emulate in their own lives.”

A foundation statement said he’s being recognized for “his enduring commitment to democratic ideals and elevating the standard of political courage in a new century.”

America honors its worst, a longstanding tradition.
