Is Israel Planning Another War on Lebanon? by Stephen Lendman Last year, Press TV cited the Beirut-based al-Akhbar broadsheet, saying unnamed US officials warned about Israeli plans for war on Lebanon, a decade after its last aggression - embarrassed by Hezbollah fighters at the time, perhaps seeking an excuse for revenge. On March 11, Haaretz interviewed extremist Israeli Education Minister Naftali Bennett. Suggesting another possible war on Lebanon, he said its institutions
infrastructure, airport, power stations, traffic junctions, Lebanese Army bases - they should all be legitimate targets. (Lebanon should be) sen(t) back to the Middle Ages. Bennett is part of Israels lunatic fringe. The IDF considers civilians and nonmilitary related sites legitimate targets when waging war, international law systematically breached. Collective punishment is official policy. Israels Dahiya doctrine reflects it, named after the Beirut suburb the IDF destroyed in 2006. In 2008, then IDF Northern Commander, its current chief of staff, Gadi Eisenkot explained: What happened in the Dahiya quarter of Beirut in 2006 will happen in every village from which Israel is fired on. We will apply disproportionate force at the heart of the enemy's weak spot (civilians) and cause great damage and destruction. From our standpoint, these are not civilian villages (towns or cities). They are military bases. This is not a recommendation. This is a plan. And it has been approved. The same applies to Gaza. Three Israeli wars of aggression since December 2008 caused mass destruction and slaughter, civilians harmed most. Retired General Giora Eiland believes Israels war strategy should destroy the national infrastructure and (inflict) intense suffering among the population. Dahiya strategy and tactics reflect core Israeli war policy - to inflict maximum deaths, injuries, destruction, displacement and human suffering as possible - core international humanitarian law breaches. Hezbollah has thousands of rockets able to strike Israeli cities and other sensitive sites. Its leader Hassan Nasrallah warned there will be no red lines if Lebanon is attacked. Another war could cause a bloodbath in both countries, inflicting heavy casualties, destruction, and greater regional destabilization than already. Hezbollah wont launch it. Preparations have been ongoing for a decade to respond in case Israel wages more aggression. Stephen Lendman lives in Chicago. He can be reached at lendmanstephen@sbcglobal.net. Hezbollah can shut down the Israeli power grid for 6 months. Hezbollah can burn Haifa to the ground taking out her chemical plants and refineries. Hezbollah can flatten Tel Aviv. Israel knows this which is why there has been no repeat of the 2006 Lebanon war.

Hezbollah has tens of thousands of missiles. And if Israel even thought about trying to pre-emptively strike them, Hezbollah would unleash the fires of hell on them. ;)
