Shocking video shows the moment fire crews blasted a father-of-six out of his van with a water hose after he was pulled over for a broken tail light - before police shot him dead.

The suspect, identified by his sister as Michael Anthony Perez, had been pulled over in Anaheim, California, on Saturday evening when police say he refused to get out of his minivan.

Officers say they became concerned when the 33-year-old pulled out a lighter and gas container.

'We felt this guy was going to light himself on fire or blow the car up,' Orange police Lt. Fred Lopez said.

Orange police Sgt. Rob Thorsen said Perez had a criminal record that included weapons and drugs violations.

He added that the less-than-lethal round was not effective in subduing the suspect so police were forced to use deadly tactics.

I must have missed that in the article. I'll look again. OK, but this stop was for a broken tail light and not that he was threatening cops.A witness even shouted "why are you shooting" ...

'What the f**k are you shooting for? What are you shooting for?' one man asked repeatedly.

How does a broken taillight traffic stop generate a fire truck and more than two cops on the scene? Something's missing in this story.

I think maybe it became necessary for the cops to kill him after the cops first created the necessary circumstances to do so.
