Senate Neocons Want Permanent Aggression on Afghanistan

by Stephen Lendman

Afghanistan is America’s longest war, a forever war if neocon Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham have their way.

The country had nothing to do with 9/11, nor anyone residing within its borders. It didn’t threaten America - not earlier or now.

Washington used state-sponsored 9/11 as a convenient pretext to wage war on humanity at home and abroad - continuing endlessly in multiple theaters, Trump so far escalating them in Syria and Yemen, perhaps Afghanistan and elsewhere to follow, despite campaign rhetoric indicating he’d go another way.

McCain and Graham (M&G below): “On Sept. 11, 2001, al-Qaeda terrorists murdered 3,000 innocent civilians on American soil while under the sanctuary of the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.”

Fact: 9/11 was the mother of all US false flags. Al Qaeda had nothing to do with it, nor bin Ladin or other Arabs. America waged war based on a Big Lie.

M&G: “Gen. John W. Nicholson, commander of US and coalition forces in Afghanistan, told the Senate Armed Services Committee last month that the war in Afghanistan is in a stalemate.”

Fact: False! It was lost years ago. Conflict continues in all US war theaters, in part, because they’re so profitable for weapons and munitions makers.

Their business relies on war. They’re also waged to transform independent countries into US vassal states.

Taliban fighters control most of Afghanistan. As long as US forces remain where they don’t belong, endless conflict will continue.

Adding to America’s troop strength assures greater bloodshed, destruction and human misery than already.

M&G: “(T)he United States is still at war in Afghanistan against the terrorist enemies who attacked our nation on Sept. 11 and their ideological heirs. We must act accordingly.”

Fact: Utter rubbish! 9/11 was self-inflicted, a pretext to rape one country after another, millions of casualties occurring since war began in October 2001 - high crimes never forgotten or forgiven.

McCain, Graham, along with likeminded congressional and administration neocons deplore peace and stability. They thrive on mass slaughter and destruction, human lives and welfare of no consequence.

M&G accused Russia and Iran of helping Taliban fighters, “want(ing) nothing more than to see the United States fail in Afghanistan.”

The war was lost years ago. Russia and Iran aren’t involving. Continuing fighting isn’t about winning. It’s about waging it endlessly, favoring permanent wars over responsible peace and stability.

Imperial wars make us less secure, not safer. They divert vitally needed revenue from essential domestic needs.

America’s only threats abroad or at home are invented ones. The so-called war on terror is fabricated - one of the greatest hoaxes of modern times.

M&G: “The US objective in Afghanistan (is) to prevent terrorists from using the country’s territory to attack our homeland.”

Utter nonsense! The chance of it happening is zero. The best way for America to protect national security is by no longer attacking and threatening other countries - by waging peace instead of endless wars of aggression.

Don't kid yourself on this. The Dims want perpetual war as much as the neo-cons. The neo-cons are just after corporate profits via dividends.

The left is for perpetual war for union jobs AND to create a permanent unstable political situation world-wide they can exploit for political purposes. They want to create anarchy because anarchy ALWAYS leads to a police state.

police state

We are already IN a police state.

When I was a kid in Chicago there was Officer Friendly. That was not his real name. He taught kids to trust the police. He was a mean dude but he was fair. ;)

perpetual war

Did you ever hear the saying, "Perpetual was for perpetual peace"?

It is a book by Harry Elmer Barnes. I looked it up and it reminded me. The Barnes Review was a history magazine to which I was an initial subscriber many years ago. ;)

I don't remember. If I did,I am sure I didn't know it's source.

Yes,I see it now.

Science, technology, language, and pretty much everything evolves. The sole exception is human nature. History has so much to teach anyone that bothers to pay attention to it,and yet many, many people seem to be oblivious to that simple basic truth. Even people who are generally considered to be smart. I am constantly amazed at this.

Ancient Rome isn't all that different from 21st Century western civilization.
