Title: WHAT? Grandfather of Teen Killed by Homeowner in Armed Burglary says AR-15 Made for ‘Unfair’ Fight

Three teenagers were killed recently when they broke into a home in Oklahoma, armed and wearing masks. They got into a confrontation with the man who owned the home and moments later the homeowners son emerged with an AR-15 and killed all three criminals.

Now the grandfather of one of the criminals is saying it wasn’t fair that the homeowner had an AR-15, that it gave them an unfair advantage.

Here’s the video:

The Blaze reported:

According to KTUL-TV, Leroy Schumacher, grandfather of 17-year-old Jacob Redfearn, believes the death of Redfearn was unjustified because the homeowner’s AR15 gave him an unfair advantage over the three burglars.

Speaking to KTUL, Schumacher acknowledged that breaking into a house was “stupid,” but death was not the appropriate consequence.

“What these three boys did was stupid,” Schumacher said. “They knew they could be punished for it but they did not deserve to die.”

“Brass knuckles against an AR-15? C’mon. Who was afraid for their life?” Schumacher said…

…“There’s got to be a limit to that law, I mean he shot all three of them — there was no need for that,” he told KTUL.

With a family that thinks this way it is no wonder the young man thought it was okay to break into house.

The homeowner’s son did nothing wrong and should be proud that he protected himself and his family.

I can understand a grandfather would be unhappy. However, let them walk away and that would encourage them to break into more homes. And, if he had just shot to injure them, they might want and take action to get revenge. Also, if he didn't defend himself, he might have been killed or badly wounded since robbers don't like to leave witnesses. For example, "A 68-year-old Brooklyn woman died after a crew of burglars raided her apartment early Friday and bludgeoned her and her roommate with a hammer."

Grandfather - quite understandably - says punishment worse than the crime; however.....

“The thin-skull rule is a good and useful principle. It requires aggressors, once embarked on their dangerous course of conduct which may foreseeably injure others, to take responsibility for all the consequences that ensue, even to death.”
