Deplorable policies continue no matter which right wing of US duopoly power is in charge. Endless US wars rage. Conquest, occupation, colonization, exploitation and dominance are prioritized over world peace and vital popular needs. The most perilous time in world history threatens everyone. State-sponsored criminality is rewarded, not punished. Warmakers win peace prizes. Why not when war is considered peace. Leaders waging them are extolled, peacemakers vilified. So are social democrats and independent journalists, falsely accused of reporting fake news. Truth-telling leaves them vulnerable. Media scoundrels win Pulitzer Prizes. Cold War 2.0 rages, at risk of turning hot. Weeks earlier, Putin said US-dominated NATO threats “have…become more serious.” Its key member states “are constantly provoking us, trying to drag us into confrontation.” “They…interfere in our domestic affairs with the goal of destabilizing social and political order in Russia proper.” Instead of responsible dialogue to improve deplorable relations, outrageous US hostility toward Russia persists. On Monday, Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Trump administration shows a “complete unwillingness” to cooperate. Tillerson will be in Moscow on Tuesday and Wednesday. “So far, there is no meeting with (him) on (Putin’s) schedule,” Peskov explained. UK Foreign Minister Boris Johnson cancelled his trip to Moscow. Russia’s Foreign Ministry called his excuse “absurd.” It blasted him sharply, saying: Canceling his visit “confirms once again doubts in the presence of added value in speaking to the UK, which does not have its own position on the majority of present-day issues, nor does it have real influence on the course of international affairs, as it remains ‘in the shadow’ of its strategic partners. We do not feel that we need dialogue with London any more than it does.” Russia’s London embassy called his behavior “deplorable,” describing him as Trump’s “lieutenant.” Russian upper house Federation Council foreign policy expert Alexey Pushkov called dealing with him an “empty waste of time.” Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron called him “a poodle of Washington.” Prime Minister Theresa May’s spokesperson said she’s considering “further pressure” on Russia and other governments supporting Assad - new illegal sanctions likely to be imposed. Johnson urges tough ones. Ahead of his arrival in Moscow, Tillerson said Washington will act against aggressors responsible for harming civilians. He need look no further than Trump’s administration, massacring civilians in Iraq, Syria and elsewhere - high crimes gone unpunished.
