Robots and artificial intelligence (AI) will replace humans in 50 percent of all jobs in just ten years, says Kai-Fu Lee, founder of venture capital firm Sinovation Ventures and a reputable Chinese technologist.

AI is the “singular thing that will be larger than all of human tech revolutions added together, including electricity, the industrial revolution, the internet, mobile internet - because AI is pervasive,” the technologist said at the Global Mobile Internet Conference in Beijing as quoted by CNBC. According to Lee, AI represents the decision engine that would replace people. The tech expert stressed that its capabilities far exceed those of humanity.

“These are things that are superhuman, and we think this will be in every industry, will probably replace 50 percent of human jobs, create an huge amount of wealth for mankind and wipe out poverty,” Lee said.

“Touching one's heart with your heart is something that machines, I believe, will never be good at,” he said.

Lee stressed that service jobs should be considered “first-class” employment.

According to the expert, traditional institutions like banks, insurance firms, and hospitals are moving too slow, while all of this change is happening. A robot named "Robovie-II", developed by Japanese robotics research institution ATR, Kyoto, western Japan, 2010© Yuriko Nakao / Reuters

“Because AI is about taking data into insight and decision, so I anticipate the internet sector, entrepreneurial sector, to continue to grow and in many cases displace and even wipe out traditional companies in China,” said Lee.

Not to worry in US; Trump will build a wall.

In my local bank branch all the tellers are gone. Insert bank card, type password, select bill to be paid or insert cheque to be deposited, a few selects and it's done. No one making you wait in line while yappy customer converses with a teller.

Whether or not it/they are call AI, a lot of jobs have already been replaced. Only a few people still living have ever seen an elevator operator, no one operates a telephone switch board, and most companies don't have a person answering the phone until after you have responded to a computer. But robots can't stand up and walk on 2 feet, at least not yet; but that's very easy for humans.

No surprise there, given that half the jobs available now don't require any intelligence.

Why else do you think the left is out to seize total control over the civilized areas of the planet,if not to kill off a excess population with no jobs and no hope of ever getting a job?

Other than the natural fascist tendency to bully, beat, and murder people, that is.

Nobody wants to hear it,but the population MUST be controlled or it will get out of hand and there will be worldwide famines and revolutions, along with starvation and deaths by disease they always bring.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ In the entire history of the world, the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments.

Amazing our technology.

A company in Japan made a human like robot a couple of years ago that children thought was a real person. However, see was sitting. Walking requires too much balance unless the feet are really really big and therefore not require balance. However, I have no doubt robots being able is coming in the next decade or so. There is a huge potential market for realistic looking life size, 90 pound love (sex) dolls with artificial intelligence that can walk, talk, etc. No doubt the could sell for $20,000 each. Then best silicon love dolls are $6,000 and they don't talk, etc.

It can walk. I didn't know robots could do that yet.
