D-backs Catcher Taken to Hospital After Getting Drilled in Face With Fastball Thomas Carannante

We've simply seen this too many times already in 2017.
Thankfully nobody has been seriously injured up until this point, but these incidents are just something you never want to see. Getting hit in the face with a pitch rarely ends well, and we saw that occur once again on Friday night.
The latest victim was Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Chris Ianetta, who took a fastball directly to the mouth. Here's the video:
Ianetta was removed from the game and taken to the hospital. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said he was unsure if the veteran lost any teeth or broke his nose, but based on this picture, we would guess at least one of those things happened.
The Diamondbacks got the win over the Pirates, but of course spirits weren't high with this scary incident occurring late in the game.
Here's to hoping for a speedy recovery for Ianetta.
