Tehran says offer is part of ongoing discussions with Turkey and Russia to maintain the ceasefire in Syria

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Monday that Tehran was ready to send "peace forces" to Syria as part of a plan to enforce the four de-escalation zones created by Iran, Turkey and Russia.

“In this regard, we are ready to send peace forces to strengthen the ceasefire in the region after the roadmap is determined and necessary agreement is reached,” he said in a weekly press conference in Tehran.

Moscow's proposal for creating four de-escalation zones across Syria has been widely mis-characterized by the media.

Unlike US dreams in northern Syria, Moscow's plan is not designed to partition or chop up Syrian territory. In fact, it's likely to have the opposite effect:

The placement of the proposed "de-escalation zones" shows that these are all jihadi dominated areas under the protection and support of foreign sponsors; Saudi Arabia, Israel, Turkey, the smaller Gulfies and probably still the US. The supposed creation of these jihadi Bantustans will please the sponsors but it should not.

Why? The very al-Qaeda descended or connected jihadi military forces in these areas are excluded from the terms and protection of "the deal." This means that after the Deir al-Zor operation is ended the R+6 will be free to turn their attention to destroying terrorist jihadi forces in these enclaves.

Here's what's 100 percent certain: If Iran sends troops to maintain the de-escalation zones, Israel will lose its mind.
