After they rebuilt I94 in Illinois by using continuous rebar so there would never be any blow ups in summer, there was a spot about 2 feet in diameter that was collapsing in right lane of 3 lane road. We went out there with a concrete saw with 12 inch blade and cut down to the level the rebar was. Then we broke out the concrete above the rebar and thru the rebar to get the concrete below it out of there. They broke a couple of the rebar so they brought out the portable electric welder and fixed the broken rebar. Then they poured new concrete in the hole and allowed it to set up for a few days.
