Thank you. The ad ran in a bunch of cities in North Carolina, next door to Virginia. I found what I was looking for: the name of the company that ran the ads is Crowds on Demand, which has a "Political Services" page on its website.

Crowds on Demand, a Los Angeles-based Public Relations firm specializing in innovative events, is looking for enthusiastic actors and photographers in the Charlotte, NC area to participate in our events. Our events include everything from rallies to protests to corporate PR stunts to celebrity scenes. The biggest qualification is enthusiasm, a "can-do" spirit. Pay will vary by event but typically is $25+ per hour plus reimbursements for gas/parking/Uber/public transit.

On August 7th Crowds on Demand posted a Craigslist ad looking for actors and photographers. The ad was posted in Charlotte, NC which is about 4 1/2 hours away from Charlottesville Virginia. ... Many witnesses claim that protesters were bused in.

A comment at another site suggested that a torch march the night before Unite the Right's rally might also have been interspersed with Crowds on Demand hirelings.
