Military Leaders, Congress Praise Trump’s ‘Inspiring’ Afghanistan Speech

By Rusty | Featured Contributor | August 22, 2017 9:00AM

If you had forgotten what a true commander-in-chief looks and sounds like over the past eight years, you could reasonably be forgiven.

Former president Obama used a military strategy in Afghanistan that involved arbitrary timelines, ignoring generals on the ground, choosing politics over wise strategy, and leading from behind.

President Trump, however, delivered a speech addressing a new strategy in Afghanistan that military leaders and members of Congress alike have universally praised.

Trump outlined a comprehensive new military strategy that would focus efforts on killing terrorists, not nation-building, and establish “lasting peace” in the region.

“From now on, victory will have a clear definition: attacking our enemies, obliterating ISIS, crushing Al Qaeda, preventing the Taliban from taking over Afghanistan, and stopping mass terror attacks against America,” Trump announced, in his address to the nation.

Here is just some of the reaction to the President’s speech:

Former General Jack Keane:

“I’m impressed because we finally got a commander-in-chief who speaks honestly not just to the troops in front them … but he spoke so honestly to the American people. And we’ve had this political deception for such a long time dealing with Afghanistan and you put your finger on it …”

Speaker Paul Ryan praised Trump’s “principled realism” and his comprehensive Afghanistan strategy that breaks with 16-years of “convoluted” strategies.

Fox News’ Bret Baier said that during the speech, he was receiving messages from current and former special forces members saying President Trump’s speech is the one they’ve been waiting to hear.

“And as the speech was happening, I was getting messages from current and former special-forces members who said this is the speech that they wanted to hear: the power, the resolve, the pride, the courage and the commitment to let them do their job.”

Retired Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling praised President Trump’s conditions-based strategy, saying it’s “something that I think most of my colleagues, most military professionals would say we should have done in the past.”

Senator Lindsey Graham, of all people, repeatedly praised Trump’s speech by saying how “proud” he was of his decision making.

“I am very pleased, very thoughtful, very inspiring speech and I can assure you a lot of people in Congress will be behind the president.”

In short, military leaders, special forces members, and congressional members all seem to be in line with President Trump.

You’ve now seen what true leadership looks like. Let’s hope this plan works and the situation in Afghanistan is restored after it had been turned into a disaster by Obama’s ‘leading from behind’ strategy.

Anything the deep State reacts positively to is shit for us.

Wherever on the globe the Alphabetoids stick their grubby noses and stretch out their greedy little claws they prepare a shit sandwich for us and drag our name into the dirt.

I recall the 1930s when world powers ignored three small countries, with small populations. First Italy, then Germany then Japan.

Untold millions died because Britain, France and others kept their troops home, minded their own business.

Regardless of who planned it all, UNTOLD MILLIONS DIED.

With respect Cyni, we ignore very little today.

Our "agents of change" in and out of uniform are everywhere.

Sixteeen years in Afghanistan has yielded us exactly - what?

The world knows and understands, we are the "enforcer" in the neighborhood...

Germany and Russia started two world wars in a twenty year period. Wilson and Roosevelt told us what???

We have been ALL OVER EUROPE since 1945, never intend to leave. Result...No world wars...Russia wanted war in the worst way, what happened, we stayed, they backed down.

In this world there cannot be a power vacuum in any region.

Major wars in the Americas????? No. We will not allow it, period.

Two potential world war flash points...Middle East and Asia.

China is sitting, waiting, patiently. Billions of people in Asia just waiting to explode. We have fought twice on Asian mainland, right or wrong is not relevant to the future. It tells the Chinese, Indians and Russians we are there and most likely will do it again.

We cannot fire the local cop because there were no crimes committed yesterday. We pay him to attend to such.

Enforcer?

Honestly, who respects or even fears us in the Middle East?

We prop up dope regimes and the most reprobate forms of Islam on the planet.

All of it comes back to bite us in the ass.

Honestly, who respects or even fears us in the Middle East?

Actually we are not looking for respect, nor love.

We are there to see that everyone knows that if they transgress, they will be punished.

Take Europe as an example. France is the only country that has thrown us out since WWII. History tells us that when WWII began with invasion of Poland, France was the ONLY country that could have stopped it in its tracks.

Hitler knew that, Stalin knew that, but they also knew France would never fight to maintain peace and they were right.

France called Britain and the US warmongers and other good names. When their turn came, they ran like rabbits, begging the Brits to SAVE THEIR SORRY ASSES, send troops and all your aircraft.

My brother fought all across France into Germany to save their sorry asses. He is still there.

Bring all the troops home, fine with me, just do not drag me off to another war.

Asia is going to explode, with or without the Middle East as a fuse.

Save money, fire the cop on the beat. Bad people will be calling.

Weren't the French generals paid to stand down?

When deGaulle fled, why would anyone else stick around?

There was no Napoleon to lead them.

True...

When we invaded North Africa, our troops were shot by Frenchmen, not Germans.

I will agree to bring all the troops home on one condition.

When war comes, WE ALL GO, NO ONE STAYS HOME

NO ONE....
