Do you have a farmer’s spirit, but a city-dweller’s acreage… er, square footage? Something as simple as choosing the right fruits and veggies can make a massive difference in how much you can produce.

Even if an apartment or a duplex, you can still grow enough delicious fruit and vegetables to offset a significant chunk of (if not most of) your produce budget.

There are actually many ways for you to develop a robust garden filled with food. For example, you can turn your balcony or patio into a container garden that’s filled with goodies.

Some plants can also be grown indoors. All it takes is a little ingenuity and know-how to get started.

1. Spinach

Does your balcony have a lot of shade? Or are you trying to grow plants from inside your apartment? Spinach can be a good option because it doesn’t require a lot of direct sunlight. This nutritious leafy green vegetable is also very easy to grow!

Simply plant your seeds, keep the spinach in a cooler climate, water occasionally and be prepared to harvest the results in four to six weeks. Spinach plants are relatively small and don’t require a lot of space, so almost everyone should have enough room to grow at least one of them at home.

This was okay but I thought they would mention varieties of sprouts. Quick, easy, soilless, etc.

I'm always looking for reliable info on sprouting. I have a decent sprouter so I can liven up my salads and sandwiches with fresh sprouts but I keep thinking there must be a better model out there, bigger, easier to take care of.
