He didn't explain what material it was made of. Perhaps it's lead. But tungsten has almost the same specific weight as gold, so if anyone was selling tungsten ingots as gold, this check he suggests people do not reveal it.
Ebay should be on top of this in a heartbeat. And if they are coming from China, "gold" imports from China should be banned.

China has been taken in by the same hoax with 400 oz gold bars.
Tungsten is indeed the culprit in this instance. It can be easily substituted for gold because of the closeness of its atomic weight.
And yes, eBay needs to check into where the phony gold was obtained and file complaints with the authorities for mail fraud (if sent by Postal Service) among other charges. ;)
