Saudi Arabia intercepts ballistic missile over capital

The Yemeni Air Force targeted King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital of Riyadh on Saturday with a ballistic missile, according to Yemen's Houthi-controlled Defense Ministry.

The missile was intercepted over north-east Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Defense said in a statement carried on Saudi-backed Al-Arabiya television. Yemen's Defense Ministry said the missile attack "shook the Saudi capital" and the operation was successful.

The Yemeni ministry also said the attack was conducted using a Yemeni-made, long-range ballistic missile called the "Burqan 2H."

Saudi Arabia has been leading a coalition of states against the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, who toppled the country's internationally recognized government in 2015.

Saudi Arabia has been leading a coalition of states against the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, who toppled the country's internationally recognized government in 2015. (Pure BS.)

The government was not elected in any real sense as they did not allow an opposition candidate. And lots of people besides the Houthis are opposed to the Saudis. In fact the Saudis flew 2 plane loads of Al Qaeda mercenaries to help them kill the locals.

Yemen has the ability to construct long range ballistic missiles??? NK doesn't know how to do that yet. They are still working in intermediates.

Maybe there's something to this story but I doubt it's completely accurate.

Edit: Wikipedia claims that the "Burqan 2H" is only a short range missile, not long range.

I looked at the map. Sana'a is way off to the left and well south of the border. The rocket was probably just a left over SCUD the Russians had left lying around.

The Burqan is a Scud B reportedly with NK improvements. It's listed as a tactical missile with an 800-1000 km range.
