PressTV... Americans do not want US President Donald Trump to create more international problems for the country by appointing a hard-liner for the post of secretary of state, according to Michael Burns, a political and military analyst in New York.

Multiple news outlets reported that Trump wanted to replace US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, a Trump loyalist and foreign policy hard-liner.

Trump has described Tillerson as weak and the top diplomat reportedly called Trump a moron.

The White House, however, announced on Thursday that Tillerson will remain as the secretary of state.

PressTV-Trump is not firing Tillerson: White House The White House says Rex Tillerson will remain as the US secretary of state, but refuses to say whether Trump has still confidence in him.Burns told Press TV on Friday that Americans preferred Tillerson to Pompeo. He described Tillerson as “a man of class and style” whom Americans liked.

“We don’t ask that much of a secretary of state other than not to get us into trouble,” the analyst explained.

Burns implied that Tillerson was a level-headed senior officials, noting that he was popular in the many influential circles and would use his weight to not allow Trump to fling the country into nuclear confrontation with North Korea.

“We do not want to trigger a nuclear war because of ham-handed actions by our president,” Burns said.

Burns pointed out that at present the North Korean crisis was the number one problem the US faced in its foreign affairs and all the Americans wanted was that no more problems with foreign nations be added.

In reference to reports claiming that by appointing Pompeo as the secretary of state, Trump would be preparing to initiate confrontation with Iran, the analyst said, “Right now, Iran is not on the table, as a major confrontation between the United States [and Iran] … is not in its foreign interest”.

Poster Comment:

The frustrating predicament that a highly successful executive like Tillerson finds himself in wherein the Israeli lobby controls US foreign policy through its control of US Congress is funnier than any tweet Trump can come up with.

Trump thinks the military is his toy to play with and like most bullies he wants to show that he is macho by picking on small countries that are no danger to the USA.

You just described W Bush.

Trump does have that tendency though. I expected him to employ his business/negotiation skills internationally but we've yet to see that, I think.

With the over riding influence Israel has on US foreign policy through control of Congress by its lobby facilitating election of Israel-loyal members it's hard to determine where Trump is going. His Tomahawking Syria was the most stupid thing he's done unless it was to evaluate effectiveness of Russian SAM defences. He certainly found that out.

Yes Bush too and probably every president since Reagan and to some extent Reagan too. At least, unlike Trump, Reagan wasn't foolish enough to threaten Russia or at the time the USSR.
