Americans do not want US President Donald Trump to create more international problems for the country by appointing a hard-liner for the post of secretary of state, according to Michael Burns, a political and military analyst in New York. Multiple news outlets reported that Trump wanted to replace US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, a Trump loyalist and foreign policy hard-liner.
Trump has described Tillerson as weak and the top diplomat reportedly called Trump a moron.
The White House, however, announced on Thursday that Tillerson will remain as the secretary of state.

We dont ask that much of a secretary of state other than not to get us into trouble, the analyst explained.
Burns implied that Tillerson was a level-headed senior officials, noting that he was popular in the many influential circles and would use his weight to not allow Trump to fling the country into nuclear confrontation with North Korea.
We do not want to trigger a nuclear war because of ham-handed actions by our president, Burns said.
Burns pointed out that at present the North Korean crisis was the number one problem the US faced in its foreign affairs and all the Americans wanted was that no more problems with foreign nations be added.
In reference to reports claiming that by appointing Pompeo as the secretary of state, Trump would be preparing to initiate confrontation with Iran, the analyst said, Right now, Iran is not on the table, as a major confrontation between the United States [and Iran]
is not in its foreign interest.
