Fine writing, ghost! These subsequent chapters are shorter than the opener, so I could do more than one per day.

Would you mind sharing your inspiration for this work, and how long it took you to develop the story?

Also how did you develop your skill at composition? A life-long hobby? A writing course or two? Or just something you have always been good at?

... if you don't mind the questions....

I did a lot of role playing in my teen years and loved it. Looking back, as much as I despised a lot of things going on in my life back in those socially hard times, gaming with those friends who are still good friends to this day was somewhat of a life-saver.

Have you looked into publishing it? Searching on "how to self publish books" turns up a lot of links. I do remember seeing a couple years ago some site I mentioned earlier that seemed to be a guild of sorts. You put your work up and other writers/readers would start into it, and if enough of them like it it can go viral with recommendations and such. You could make money off that, and perhaps get some more major league attention. At least that's the impression I had of it. I don't remember the site though it shouldn't be hard to find, if it's still running.

But I think your book here would have all the qualities needed to get attention. It certainly beats the socks off of the likes of Terry Brooks' Shannarra series, which I've read most of as they were gifted to me (while lamenting that they seemed to be the best that fantasy writers could do). I did read them as they were entertaining, but only mildly so, truth be told.

The movie industry is also in dire need of some good story writing. One need only look at productions like "Pacific Rim" to see just how desperate they are. As I watched that, the only thing going through my mind was "Is this the best story they can come up with?" And "If they are willing to fund this production, I could write a story for which they would be grovelling at my feet in thanks".
