Judge Declares Mistrial In Bundy Case Over Withheld Evidence

A federal judge declared a mistrial Wednesday in the case against rancher Cliven Bundy and co-defendants accused of leading the 2014 Nevada standoff, admonishing the prosecution for failing to turn over “potentially exculpatory” evidence to the defense.

Chief U.S. District Court Judge Gloria Navarro also dismissed the jurors after seven weeks of testimony on charges brought against Cliven Bundy, his sons Ammon and Ryan Bundy, and Ryan Payne in Las Vegas federal court.

“The judge is obligated to disclose all evidence that might be favorable” to defense attorneys, she said.

Now dismiss this farce of fairy-tale charges.

I thought Cliven Bundy was shot to death by the feds?

Somebody please point out to me how this will bring him back to life.

I would also be very excited to hear about a feral agent being arrested for either manslaughter or murder.

The entire Bundy family are thugs. They owed the American tax payers $20 million in back grazing fees, they destroyed a federal facility, they stole federal documents.

No, he's better that ever after this fake case was thrown out.

LaVoy Finicum was shot and killed in Oregon, but that's a whole other place and time.

No one was convicted in the Oregon Bundy trials either.

Thank you for the correction!

It was pretty much an identical dispute, wasn't it?

Both involved the BLM and land use, yes. Oregon was the boys thing, and Cliven only showed up at the end to support them I believe.

If I'm not mistaken Nevada is somewhere around 80% government land, mostly federal. The constitution grants the feds land for forts and ports (military use), and that's about it. Maybe post offices.

I can go along with Teddy Roosevelt's 50 foot strip along the border as being a military necessity, but elsewhere he started a bad trend of fed land grabbing, IMO.

Have you ever been to Nevada? It's no big loss to the public. Mostly desert and no water.

Complaining about Nevada being mostly owned by the feds is like complaining about the Great Dismal Swamp being mostly owned by the feds.

If that is all you have to complain about, you need to get out more.

I despise prosecutors who deliberately cheat. Most prosecutors I know despise them also.

In federal court with everything stacked in their favor, they usually don't have to dirty their hands.
