By way of further comment at this point I would simply reiterate my previous assessment that your work with this book is publishable. I have read published paperbacks that were simply not of this quality. It's easily better than the Terry Brooks Shannara series, having much more depth and color than that relatively simple fable. (Though I suppose there is a market for that kind of simple story).

My criticism is very limited. I noted before at one point a bit of confusion with the numerous threads, keeping track of who's who & where's where. The maps help a lot in keeping the where's straight, and I've not had any of that over the last 10+ chapters. I guess I'm more acclimated.

An extremely minor note: When the ogre's were in the black mountain, the dust on the floor was a finger deep, and yet it was noted there were runes in the floor of the chamber. Seems to me any runes would be well covered and unseen in that dust. But that's minimal criticism is about the most I can come up with.

Okay, to be complete, there were 2 references to the dust, once at the entrance and a second after they were lead deeper into the mountain. I had thought perhaps the dust was just at the entrance, but the 2nd ref made it clear it was everywhere.

So very true; were he half the lawyer that he is a writer, he'd be on the SCOTUS right now.

May the new year arrive quickly to bless us with more amazing chapters as the stories begin to come together.

“The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable.” ~ H. L. Mencken
