This inference is pretty easy to make: If President Donald Trump had an affair with the porn star known as Stormy Daniels, then he was unfaithful to Melania Trump. When Trump and Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, apparently met at a Lake Tahoe celebrity golf tournament in July 2006, he and his third wife, Melania, had been married for about 18 months. They were also parents to baby Barron, then around 4 months old. With reports swirling about Trump’s association with Clifford, as well as an alleged 10-month affair he had with 1998 Playboy Playmate of the Year Karen McDougal between 2006-2007, it’s surprising that no one has sought out Melania Trump for a comment about her husband’s alleged infidelity. Clifford may have denied the affair last week through Trump’s attorney, but she’s on record confirming it in two interviews this week, with Slate and the tabloid In Touch. In the In Touch interview, Clifford offers up salacious details about how, for example, the sex with the then star of “The Apprentice” was rather generic. But she said Trump was pleased enough that afterwards he said, “I’m gonna call you, I’m gonna call you. I have to see you again. You’re amazing. We have to get you on ‘The Apprentice.'” The In Touch report also comes with a cover line that asks the question: “Will the First Lady file for divorce.” Of course, the First Lady has had other unpleasant controversies to deal with this week. On Monday, her perhaps well-intentioned tweet commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. Day seriously backfired, People reported. The Slovenian-born former model tweeted about the honor of being First Lady “of a nation that continually strives for equality & justice for all.” But her tweet came days after her husband reportedly disparaged Haiti, El Salvador and some African nations as “sthole” countries in an immigration meeting with lawmakers on Thursday. While Trump denied saying it, his use of the expletive was confirmed by others at the meeting, including Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin. Whlle some people praised the first lady’s MLK Day tweet, others suggested she was tone-deaf or an enabler of what they called her husband’s bigotry. One wrote: “Seriously? This is a parody account right? Your hubby used a racist slur against a group of nations whose citizens are black, many of whom have come here to live & wants to deport brown young adults brought here as children. Please. A photo of the family boarding the aircraft showed Trump only holding an umbrella for himself, while Melania and Barron enjoyed no such shelter against the elements, reported TMZ. Perhaps Trump was concerned about his famously styled hair getting mussed. As for the porn star allegations, Trump, through his attorney, also has denied the affair with Clifford. But reports suggest that he also sought the company of other porn stars during that Lake Tahoe weekend. One, Jessica Drake, came forward during the final weeks of the presidential campaign to accuse Trump of sexual misconduct and of offering her $10,000 for sex. Drake was one of a dozen women who alleged sexual misconduct when Trump was also dealing with the fallout of a leaked 2005 Access Hollywood recording. In a conversation with Access Hollywood host Billy Bush, Trump boasted about pursuing sex with married women and grabbing women’s genitals. Earlier in 2005, Trump had married Melania in a lavish wedding at Mar-a-Lago. With the presidency at stake in the fall of 2016, Melania Trump became one of her husband’s staunchest defenders. And perhaps this interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper offers a preview of the kind of things she would say if asked about her husband and his relationship with Clifford and the other women. In the interview, she mostly addressed the Access Hollywood recording, referring to her husband’s crude way of talking about women as perhaps inappropriate but nothing signaling assault. She called his language “boy talk.” She also argued that he had been “egged on” because he never talks that way at home. Moreover, she said she believes him and trusts him. If he sometimes says certain aggressive things or behaves in outlandish ways, that’s because he’s an entertainer. “But my husband is real,” she said. “He tells it like it is. He’s kind.
