For those that do not know their was an open carry event at Olmos Park yesterday. The chief of police was informed about it by one of the organizers 24 hours in advance to ensure their would be no trouble from the police. The police chief ensured them that their would not harm to activists as long as they were acting legal and lawful On the day of the event Olmos Park police assaulted activists, Tazed them, arrested three individuals on false charges. I watched that video. The first thing they will charge him with is refusing a lawful police order. But I will also say that the cops forced the situation by approaching and assaulting the man. If they would have ignored him there would have been no trouble at all. Now it seems there is a Texas state law that permits open carry of arms. It has been that way in Texas for a long time. However, with that anti-gun Texas governor, Greg Abbott, who knows what kind of crap could be stirred up. Clearly, the cops are in the wrong in this situation. I should ad that it was in coordination with Open carry Texas and it was CJ Grisham president of open carry Texas which was one of the three assaulted and was the one who was tazed and he got a concussion out of it and was accused of obstruction and assault on a police officer. They have all been bonded out. Lawsuits will follow and eventually where applicable criminal action. I remember how corrupt the Chicago P.D. was when I was growing up in that city. And I remember when James R. Thompson was U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois. He got some investigations started and eventually cleaned out most of the bad cops. Corruption has a way of rearing its ugly head again after a number of years. And from what I hear about the Chicago P.D. now, I sure would not want to live there again. Anyway, it is an awfully expensive town to live in with the sales tax and city sticker and gasoline tax all added onto the cost of living. But nobody in the Open carry march was charged with any gun crimes. Their was never anything to charge them with. So the obstruction charges , the assault charges, every other charge is out.
