I'd say it's past being imperiled.. did you read what Sandra Day O'Connor has recently said?

Well I see it this way.. you have to consider sources.. and take that very much into account.. but there are times when even the worst of them truth.. read between the lines..

Oh, I shall be OK....I reckon.

Our weather has moderated,too, though not nearly that high a temperature (thank God for that), though we do still get some flurries. I sort of figure that is the I AM's way of telling us not to get overly excited about getting out in the yards and flower beds just yet!

But spring is just around the corner. And because of that, I reckon I should get back off here and go back to Bible study. I've really been having a wonderful time with that. God is so good, though were people to just pick up the Bible and start reading in Jeremiah, they might not feel that way.

But I really like that fella--he and Job. Both were really patient. And poor Jeremiah. To keep up the same old waltz routine nonstop for 40+ years knowing full well everyone else wanted to cha-cha! But he was some patriot. His heart grieved like a lot of ours for what was happening to his land of birth.

Well.......Jim, take care for now.

Hey Rowdee, I just thought that statement hit it on the nail. So I posted it OK. That statement is in the text of the article that is linked at the top. Have a good day.

Thanks for the hint - I need to get back to the "studying thyself approved" sort of stuff myself.

Rest well, Dee.

existence of the government will be imperiled if it fails to observe the law scrupulously. Our Government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the Government becomes a lawbreaker, it breeds contempt for law;

This is in error as is shown by the following quote.

"Now more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature." James Garfield

Quite simply, if the people are corrupt, so will those who they elect to represent them. This can only be changed when the people reclaim their fidelity and allow a return to morality.

What I believe is being advocated here is civil disobedience. That is a far greater tool to bring government in line with the will of the people.

I saw the actual title of the article this came from, and in the very first paragraph, it says the people are the fourth branch of government. This is also in error.

The three branches of government and each should be a check on the other or two on one to keep them within their bounds.

The fourth branch which is mistakenly referred to here is actually the jury. The jury is the fourth and final check against tyranny in government, by the power of jury nullification.

“If a nation or an individual values anything more than freedom, it will lose its freedom; and the irony is that if it is comfort or money it values more, it will lose that too.” W. Somerset Maugham
