As Stanley Kubrick was flying high on the success of The Shining, he decided that for his next project he wanted to make a film that depicted what war was like. A little more than seven years later, he presented Full Metal Jacket to the world. Based on Gustav Hasfords novel The Short-Timers, the 1987 movie co-written by Kubrick, Hasford, and Michael Herr left a lasting impact.
