At the same time, Melania is smeared by the media on what seems like a daily basis and Trump’s entire family is in-bounds. Enough is enough. Criticizing Michelle’s disastrous school lunch program, embarrassing gaffes, and silly statements are all fair play. From The Hill: Former first lady Michelle Obama likened her husband’s presidency to having “the good parent” at home at a women’s leadership conference on Thursday. At the Simmons Leadership Conference in Boston, Obama appeared to take shots at President Trump‘s administration in remarks first reported by local TV station WBZ. The Obama administration “was like having the ‘good parent’ at home,” the former first lady said. “The responsible parent, the one who told you to eat your carrots and go to bed on time.” “And now we have the other parent,” Obama added. “We thought it’d feel fun — maybe it feels fun for now because we can eat candy all day and stay up late and not follow the rules.” What in the world is she talking about? For starters, Trump’s Rasmussen poll numbers are higher than Obama’s were at the same point in his presidency. From The Hill: President Trump on Tuesday touted his job-approval rating in a conservative-leaning poll, saying it is now higher than former President Obama’s was during the same period of his presidency. Half of voters told Rasmussen’s daily tracking poll on Monday that they approve of Trump’s performance in office, 4 points higher than Obama scored on the same tracking poll on April 2, 2010. Does Michelle really want to talk about Obama as the “good parent”? Also, why is she referring to the American people as children? That really sums up everything wrong with her view of the role of government, doesn’t it? Does she not remember all of the scandals? Obama’s administration was scandal-ridden, to say the least. At one point, there were 4 different scandals going on at Obama’s EPA alone. That’s on top of the scandals at the VA, DOJ, and IRS. Oh, and we can’t forget Hillary’s email scandal and Benghazi under his watch. That’s the good parent? Sure. Trump uses bad language sometimes and fires people but how in the world can you make the argument that Obama is the good parent? Also, and I hate to do it, but Trump doesn’t drink or smoke. Obama? Well, I think we all know about Obama’s smoking habits. Nothing wrong with smoking but it’s not very “good parent” of him. It’s hard to believe there are people out there who actually want Michelle Obama to run for president. Check out this piece from Democrat strategist Doug Schoen. From The Hill: As I’ve said before, the Democrats need an alternative plan to rebuild and unite the party if they have any hope in winning back seats in Congress in the 2018 midterms, nonetheless the White House in 2020. This alternative plan requires a new, united opposition, led by a political leader with widespread popularity. The only person I can see accomplishing this would be none other than the party’s most popular political figure: Michelle Obama. Let me be clear: This is not an endorsement. I have been, and still am, critical of Barack Obama’s presidency. Michelle Obama would not be my candidate, and I do not agree with many of the positions I believe she would advance. But as an analyst, Michelle Obama is clearly the Democrats’ best chance to reunite the party and win back the White House in 2020. Yikes. Poster Comment: Yikes indeed.
