ROBOTS which can listen, learn and react to people are being introduced in care homes to help look after residents and prevent loneliness.

Can ROBOTS take care of the elderly?

Sounds grim enough. "Staff shortage" sounds like a cowardly way of saying "seriously wrecked economy". If there were a "staff shortage" the answer would be hiring more staff, but they don't want to go there, do they now.

The Japanese are already doing it and their elderly prefer robots to Third Worlders taking care of them.
