Israel has gained “de facto control over US foreign policy by placing their citizens in key positions in the American government,” according to Walt Peretto, a writer and researcher based in Washington, DC. On Monday, the US officially announced the opening of its new embassy in Jerusalem al-Quds amid deadly Israeli crackdown on peaceful protests by Palestinians in the occupied territories. "Today we open the United States embassy in Jerusalem [al-Quds], Israel," US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman said at the beginning of the inaugural ceremony, attended by a US delegation from Washington and officials of the Israeli regime. Among the participants were President Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, and her husband Jared Kushner, who has been tasked by Washington to negotiate an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In the hours leading up to the inauguration, Israeli troops engaged in clashes with Palestinians taking part in mass protests on the Gaza border. According to Gaza health officials, at least 59 Palestinians have been shot dead and hundreds have been wounded by Israeli snipers who are positioned along the fence, facing the protesters. The decision sparked outrage among Palestinians, who deem Jerusalem al-Quds as the future capital of a Palestinian state. Poster Comment: Democratic and Republican candidates for Congress don't need much coercion or coaxing to support Israel when assured they will get in return the necessary campaign organizational, financial and media support from American Jews to get elected. It's hard for a candidate to get volunteers when people have family, work commitments and there is so much interesting entertainment from Hollywood, etc. AIPAC gets around this by allowing canvassers to keep 30%. The pro-Israel candidates elected are so grateful that they vote a $3-billion grant to Israel annually, some of which pays for AIPAC's $100-million budget. So this lobby could be considered, like the Federal Reserve, a very effective agency of US government conducting the most civil, free-of-acrimony national elections in the world. Defender... The UK also suffers an over 'representation' in places of power and influence, of those that favour israel. Not chance of an enquiry to expose them though because of bullying and intimidation!!!
