the Treaty of Verailles
Germany was not prepared for a war.

One of the provisions of that Treaty was that Germany was not to re-arm. The facts were that German pilots were training in the Soviet Union to evade detection.
At least not a 2 front war. And Germans were fighting in Africa and Italy too.
