Sen. Rand Paul’s neighbor Rene Boucher will serve 30 days in prison and pay a $10,000 fine for assaulting the Kentucky Republican.

Boucher pled guilty to assaulting a member of Congress. He is also not allowed any intentional contact with Paul's family and will also have to perform 100 hours of community service, WKYT reported.

Paul, who suffered six broken ribs in the November attack, released a short statement after the sentencing.

“No one deserves to be violently assaulted,” Paul said. “A felony conviction with jail time is appropriate and hopefully will deter the attacker from further violence. I commend the FBI and Department of Justice for treating this violent, pre-meditated assault with the seriousness it deserves.”

Earlier this week, court documents reviewed by the Associated Press showed Boucher was angry at Paul for dropping 10-foot branches near the dividing line of his property.

Boucher thought the limbs were "unsightly" and hauled them off in portable dumpsters and when Paul dropped off new limbs, Boucher poured gasoline on them and set them on fire.

Paul's team had called the yard dispute rationale a "false narrative."

Along with the broken ribs, Paul injured his lungs and he developed pneumonia.

Paul's wife Kelley said in November that they hadn't spoken to Boucher in 10 years.

30 days in prison and pay a $10,000 fine

It is likely he will serve that 30 days in the County Jail since the State Penitentiary is for sentences longer than one year. $10,000 fine is not surprising.

When I lived in Chicago, there was a fight at the corner tap. The windows got broken out and it was closed the next night.

This guy wanted a beer so he went across the street to the Blue Pub. It was a gay bar. Some guy grabbed his ass. He punched him out. The cops came and arrested him. I heard when he got in front of the Judge, the Judge said to him, "I'm tired of you tough guys beating up the gays." He gave him 30 days in the County Jail. Of course I knew about that place so I stayed away from it. ;)

I cannot believe this. He really messed Rand up bad. I HOPE Rand has not been in the least bit conciliatory, but that would be the way of today's wet Republican dishrags.

If the Parties were reversed the sentence would have been more severe. As it is, it's a travesty even tho life is no picnic in county jails.

Just how messed up is one or both of those parties?

Sounds entirely one-sided -- Boucher the heavy?

Believe it's a jew name some of the time BTW. Definite case with a certain swindler here in SC, and he's also the biggest walking encyclopedia on the jew problem I've ever known.

I know that I've never piled up limbs, brush, or timber on my property line, in my highly urban neighborhood. Nor have I seen any other people do that. The city comes around every week to collect trimmings placed by the curb. Rand seems like an asshat dork in this matter. Still, Bouche was a douche to go blindside on Paul the lesser.

WTF's up with that? (30 days and 10K, I guess)

For a first time offender, 30 days is not unreasonable. It's a waste of tax dollars to keep people in jail more than necessary. As for punishment for injuring Rand, longer jail time doesn't help Rand any. Giving the $10k fine to Rand, would, however. Rand could also sue, but depending on how wealthy he already is, it may not be worth the trouble.

What's the sentence for mauling a police officer if you're white? Should this be any less?

There's no excuse. These 2 both have large suburban properties, but the brush pile is totally irrelevant compared to the assault. This slap on the wrist won't deter an unhinged beast like Boucher from further mayhem, which may come anonymous and untraceable nextime. Gee, I wonder if the judge is a Dummacrat too.

I'll say again this this is no isolated incident but part of an extremely alarming pattern -- open season on conservative politicians and deep clinical insanity on the other side of the divide.

Regardless the politics of the parties, decent neighbors do not pile crap of any sort on the property line. They just don't. End of story.
