There’s a nutrient that doctors in Eastern Europe and Russia have used for decades for the treatment of muscular weakness, but it’s almost unheard of here in the U.S. But this nutrient could be the next superstar on the block. That’s because it does a lot more than just treat muscle weakness. It’s also a powerful treatment for mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s disease and various other memory impairments.

This nutrient is so well studied that the FDA has approved it as a safe and effective treatment for mild-to-moderate dementia. One study found that it helps increase growth of new brain tissue. This is a big finding, as brain shrinkage is a major contributor to memory loss.

Another study had patients with vascular dementia take galantamine for 6 or 12 months. (Galantamine is a compound found in the bulbs and flowers of the snowdrop, daffodil, and red spider lily, among other plants.) They found that the longer they took the nutrient, the more their cognitive scores improved. And the improvements were significant. Those that took the nutrient for only six months had lower scores than those who took it for 12 months. This is important, as it shows the nutrient is making improvements in the brain over the long term.

In this study, the researchers switched the patients who had Alzheimer's disease with cerebrovascular disease from the placebo to galantamine therapy for six months. They found that these patients “also demonstrated cognitive benefits, but these benefits were significantly less than those observed in patients treated with galantamine continuously for the 12-month period. Galantamine was well tolerated throughout the entire 12-month study.”

How to beat almost any health problem... by rejuvenating every single cell in your body!

This European breakthrough can reverse the effects of aging in your body's cells. Studies show it leads to healthier cholesterol, a sharper memory, a stronger liver and more.

As it turns out, the longer you take galantamine, the more benefits you’ll see. That’s what a third study found when the researchers gave galantamine to Alzheimer’s patients for three years. The nutrient made a noticeable difference in the patients’ cognitive decline. It also helped reduce the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.

While none of the studies showed galantamine can cure Alzheimer’s, there are many studies that show it can definitely help. And it can help people who have noticed a slip in their memory avoid the natural decline that comes with age.

Add to these benefits the ability to build muscles and you have a nutrient that can address some of the major issues associated with aging. Just how strong is galantamine? One study said taking it long term can delay an individual’s placement in a nursing home. Imagine that - a nutrient that can help you stay in your own home longer. That’s amazing!

Galantamine is available as both a prescription and in over-the-counter products, which you can find easily online and in many health food stores. The standard dose is 4-8 mg daily. But Alzheimer’s patients have taken as much as 24 mg in the studies without any major side effects. Some people might experience some stomach discomfort and nausea when they first start taking galantamine. But this usually stops after your stomach gets used to it. It may come back if you increase your dose. But, again, it will go away.
