President is under pressure from conservatives to pick a reliably right-wing Supreme Court justice who would vote to overturn abortion rights

Anthony Kennedy's retirement gives Trump his second pick in two years

He said Friday that he doesn't plan to ask candidates about the Roe v. Wade case

Anti-abortion leader says that's reasonable 'because they won’t answer him'

Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that his list of 25 has been winnowed down to just 5, including 2 women

He promised a July 9 announcement of his choice and said he might be interviewing candidates this weekend at his New Jersey golf resort

Trump is likely to pick a young jurist who can shape the high court and push it to the right for a quarter-century

Donald Trump said Friday that he has narrowed his list of potential Supreme Court nominees to just a handful of candidates including two women. But he's not about to ask them about their leanings on abortion.

'I've got it narrowed to about five,' he told reporters aboard Air Force One, adding a promise to make his final choice public on July 9.

'I'll be anouncing it the Monday after the Fourth of July,' Trump said. 'I like them all.'

'We've got great people ... It is a group of highly talented, very brilliant, mostly conservative judges,' the president said, without tipping his hand by dropping any names.

'Outside of war and peace, of course, the most important decision you make is the selection of a Supreme Court judge, if you get it,' he told the reporters. 'As you know, there are many presidents who never get a choice.'

Trump added that that he could interview one or two finalists this weekend at his golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey. 'It is exciting,' he said.

The president is mostly interested in appointing someone young, according to a White House aide, so the new conservative justice can shape the court for at least a quarter-century.

Trump's business career is more connected to Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy than we ever knew Grace Panetta Jun. 29, 2018, 10:39 AM

Deutsche Bank loaned President Donald Trump over $1 billion for his real-estate projects while Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy's son led a real-estate division there, The New York Times reported Thursday.

Justin Kennedy was the global head of the real-estate capital markets division of Deutsche Bank, which loaned to Trump when other banks wouldn't.

The son of Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy was leading a real-estate division of Deutsche Bank as it gave President Donald Trump over $1 billion in loans to finance his real-estate projects when other banks wouldn't, The New York Times reported Thursday.

Justin Kennedy, the former global head of Deutsche Bank's real-estate capital markets division, was one of Trump's close business associates, The Times reported, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

Because of Trump's inconsistent track record in business, which included multiple bankruptcy filings and frequent lawsuits, most other major banks would not lend to him. Deutsche Bank loaned Trump the funds to construct and renovate skyscrapers and other developments in New York City and Chicago, The Times reported.

By hook or crook Trump was able to accomplish what Obama was never able to do: get an old, sick justice to resign.

LoLoLoL!!! Anybody not 'down for the revolution...komrade', is a Nazi according to the Leftards.

Pres. Trump loves pissing off the commies, I predict he will nominate somebody who will make the Leftards have a complete meltdown.

The Senate, being only 51-49 if McCain makes it to DC, is a problem. There are at least 2 RINO senators who could be expected to vote no on a staunch conservative.

Remember when the Nazi's were burning books, they specifically burned the books of Karl Marx and other Bolsheviks. Communism was the antithesis of Nazism. ;)

Juan McStain is only alive at this point due to a massive outflow of $$$, everybody else with his affliction would have expired.

"The average glioblastoma life expectancy is less than a year, with only around 2 percent of people living for longer than three years after diagnosis."

Juan McStain announced his cancer in July of 2017: he's on the backside of the bell curve right now as far as survival goes.

Maybe Pres. Trump knows that Juan McStain won't be around much longer?

He was re-elected in 2016. Since most of his term has not been served, they would need to refer to the 17th Amendment to replace him. It reads as follows:

"When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct."

Was reading that polio vaccine is effective in prolonging the life of someone with brain cancer. Maybe he is being treated with that. Also read this morning that he might resign. If he does, the governor will appoint a Republican to replace him.
