No big deal. The public has confidence because that is what mainstream media tell them. It doesn't matter how much mainstream media lies and they have been lying for decades, the public in the USA will always believe mainstream media.

China is selling its Treasury Bills into the secondary market now. When those chickens come home to roost it will cause massive inflation. It has already started.
China is also buying more U.S. debt. But they are going to demand title to hard assets, such as the National Park System and other real estate in the U.S. Are you ready for that?
I hear they have already bought the old Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in NYC and are going to rehab it with the top 10 floors to be turned into Condos. ;)

China might be buying US Treasury bonds to prop up the dollar to counter Trump's pro-US trade policies but they are dumping those Treasury bonds all over Africa by using them to finance huge investment projects all over Africa. They will let the Africans deal with the Treasury bonds.

Over the last 5 years China has sold about 10% of their USA debt holding so, if that continues, it will take 50 years to sell all their Treasuries.
Therefore, if in the next ten to twenty years, the USA experiences even greater devaluation of the US dollar, China selling US Treasuries will not be the reason.
