Title: 15,000 white South African farmers seek refuge in Russia, report says

A delegation of 30 South African farming families has arrived in Russia’s farmbelt Stavropol Region, Rossiya 1 TV reports. The group says it is facing violent attacks and death threats at home.

Up to 15,000 Boers, descendants of Dutch settlers in South Africa, are planning to move to Russia amid rising violence stemming from government plans to expropriate their land, according to the delegation.

“It’s a matter of life and death – there are attacks on us. It’s got to the point where the politicians are stirring up a wave of violence,” Adi Slebus told the media. “The climate here [Stavropol Region] is temperate, and this land is created by God for farming. All this is very attractive.”

The new South African government, led by President Cyril Ramaphosa, has pledged to return the lands owned by white farmers since the 1600s to the black citizens of the country. The government said it is planning to put an end to what it calls the legacy of apartheid, where most of South Africa’s land is still in the hands of its minority white population.

Rights groups have said the initiative incites violence. There were 74 farm murders and 638 attacks, primarily against white farmers, in 2016-17 in South Africa, according to data by minority rights group AfriForum.

The farmers are prepared to make a contribution to Russia’s booming agricultural sector, according to Rossiya 1. Each family is ready to bring up to $100,000 for leasing the land.

Russia has 43 million hectares of unused farmland, and has recently begun giving out free land to Russian citizens to cultivate farming. The land giveaway program, which began in 2014, has been a huge success.

15,000 white South African farmers seek refuge in Russia, report says

It is likely a good move since Putin has said he would give free land to anyone that wants to move there.

Something just popped into my head. One time when at Country Music Inn in NW suburban Chicago, there were 3 guys in there that were from South Africa.

They said they didn't understand how the U.S. came to be from coast to coast.

We were using my body as a map, left side was east coast and right was west coast. In the middle was Mid-West.

One of them pointed below my belt and said, "What's down there?"

I said, "That's Mexico. We don't go there." ROTFLMAO!

There just ain't no slipping NOTHING past those brainiacs,is there?

Only took them a couple of decades to notice.

Not sure if they will be an asset to Russia,or not. They will be if Russia ever goes back to full-blown communism because they need someone to do all that hard "thinking" stuff for them, and if there is one thing the commies are sincere about,it's making all your decisions for you/

I wonder if it has ever occurred to any of them that the black communists that took over and destroyed their country while robbing, raping, and murdering the whites that built it could have never done it without help from Moscow?

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ In the entire history of the world, the only nations that had to build walls to keep their own citizens from leaving were those with leftist governments.

I don't think that free land is what the Boers have in mind. They are used to good farmland in a warm climate and are prepared to spend real money to lease it.

Yeah, I hope they're ready for that climate -- and I'd breathe a lot easier if Russia would come right out and say it will welcome them with open arms.

Years ago before the fall of the Wall, Brezhnev shocked Thatcher -- somebody had said in a speech they wondered how much longer democracy would exist (something like that). On the way out of the conference the big B whispered in Lady T's ear "the real question is whether the white race can survive".

In view of Western decadence, mebbe communism did more to save it in the TV age than anything else. Fresh headline at the magnificent New Observer site:

I had but have misplaced a speech by famed SA evangelist Peter Hammond saying the black supremacists will find they've got another serious Boer battle on their hands if they try to enforce the ghastly new plans. He says SA whites are not about to let these savages take it all and sounds like he means it -- makes out the savages are weaker and more vulnerable than people know.

Sounded like he's keeping his own powder dry.

Guessing that 1.5B would lease quite a swath of good farmland. I wish them nothing but good luck, since there's nothing but death and destruction for them in the shithole of SA.

Free is free and they should not look a gift horse in the mouth. Whether or not they lease the land is up to them. But I am sure even if the get free land, leased or not, they will owe some real estate taxes on it since that is how the local government gets their operating money. ;)

Farm leases here include the taxes to be paid. RU may be different, but I doubt it.

I know it. And governments everywhere need cash in order to operate. I wonder how they figured that when Ancient Rome was the main power in the Mediterranean?

I found something interesting about this subject of taxation in Ancient Rome.

www.christianit ytoday.com/ch/2008/issue97/3.8.html

The Jewish rebellion in A.D. 66 that ignited the war with Rome was by no means inevitable. Judaism was a legal religion in the Roman Empire, and Nero's own empress, Poppaea, was very interested in it. Contrary to biblical novels and movies, far worse things could happen to you in the ancient world than to be conquered by Rome. The Romans hung out the traffic lights in their sprawling empire, curbing piracy at sea and brigandage by land, thus providing security in the Mediterranean world. The apostle Paul's missionary journeys would have been impossible without the Pax Romana, the "Roman peace" that ordered society. As for the "horrors" of Roman taxation, I would much rather have paid the tribute to Rome as a citizen of Jerusalem than American income tax!

Don't know the details of real estate taxes but many Europeans want to immigrate to Russia because of its low taxes.

That would not surprise me in the least. After all, Putin does not ride around with hordes of Secret Service types in his entourage. And people there are not allowed to own firearms. So you get my point? They have no Second Amendment in Russia. If they try to implement the U.N. Small Arms Treaty here it may start a new Revolution.

I talked with the woman who runs Good Samaritan shop here in town. She apparently has some relatives in Australia. She told me, "Oh, they have their guns." I am sure they do and I hope they keep them. ;)

Wouldn't think the Boer farmers would have to worry much about taxes on agricultural land. From the Wiki:

Land tax is the only local tax in Russia: its rates are set by municipal authorities (excluding the federal cities of Moscow and Saint Petersburg, where the rates are set by city legislators). The maximum rate is 0.3 percent on lands zoned for agriculture, housing and dachas, and 1.5 percent on other lands.

That article was from 2017 but it shows how they deal with these issues over there. It is clear that all governments everywhere need to cover operating expenses.

Where I live the city took a $55,000 hit on the water system. Now we all got a 20% increase in water rate this year and another 20% next year. They simply were not operating it like a business. ;)

Puttinsky was career KGB in roughly the same era as the USSR's barbaric rape of Afgh. I've written published articles on how Soviet the Federation still is, but politics is religion to ameriKans and even pastryots so they indulge endless fantasy trips and "grass is greener" imaginings.

Admittedly, when one's own country is ruled by such despicable gangsters fantasy is a tempting escape hatch, but we have to keep it real ;-)

I'm copying all replies to Happ from now on in hopes that he's lurking, will see it and finally heed my pleas to get active again.

Congress plays politics with tax law by rewarding its friends and punishing its enemies. With a flat rate they can't do that and have to raise everyone.

They'd create loopholes out of the clear blue, defy us to try to do something about it, and play other games to screw us over same as always.

The only thing that will ever work is first principles -- we don't owe the money, and must resist paying it in any form. Otherwise it's only a tax shift. two of the dirtiest words in the English language.
