Other people’s mortal concerns appear trivially small when viewed from the distant summit of wealth. So small, they are certain, that only a small mind could be burdened by them. Taking on 100 gallons of water doesn’t even cause my ship to list. So they meticulously pretend to ignore the conditions and concerns of their lower altitude countrymen, while just as meticulously working to keep those conditions from ever becoming a concern for them. Of course a nationless world can be excellent for frictionless commerce, though very bad for the nations sacrificed to achieve it. But there are also some slight downsides to a borderless world. And those downsides are what open borders advocates are determined that they shouldn’t have to suffer. Why should the same people have to bear both the fruits and repercussions of their policies? That’s really just too much for one person to shoulder. So non-rich whites will just have to carry their fair share: Zuckerberg gets the billions and you get the barrios. Stop complaining, it’s a 50/50 split. Pertinent to that topic, the link above is to a piece describing the Facebook CEO’s annual personal security budget. It is a breathtaking $10 million dollars. If you put that figure in perspective, it is significantly more than the average middle-class worker will spend on every single thing he ever does in his entire life. That leaves comparatively little luxury slack for safety measures beyond what his taxes are paid to provide. But Zuckerberg’s life is quite a bit more worth protecting by his evaluation. Mostly, we can speculate, because he deems it a virtuous life indeed. Much of that virtue can be seen in his social positions. For instance, immobile walls on national borders are nazi bigotry. Thus those who expect to reside in a sovereign territory behind them are nazi bigots. In contrast, portable walls and lavish layers of private defense are inclusive liberalism. Thus those who jog behind a security phalanx with drone surveillance and an armored escort vehicle are inclusive liberals. The distinction being which type of separation apparatus one can afford to deploy. As a hint, you can tell a nazi by how cheap his border is. Though in honesty this is the sort of story that should be held close to every normal person’s heart. To hear bloated, bloviating celebrity plutocrats bleat about migrant advocacy from behind a secret-service level security detail is really more than a man should have to bear.
