Poster Comment: Has a man-made structure ever effected you emotionally or spiritually? It's something I've been thinking about since I discovered Second Empire plans nail what I would do, given a budget.

Being from/in California, I kinda like the concept of the geodesic or monolithic dome. The Monolithic Dome is a permanent structure which is energy efficient, cost effective, disaster resistant and attractive. Monolithic Domes have real strength. They can withstand the force of a tornado, hurricane or earthquake. They cannot burn, rot or be eaten by bugs. The Monolithic Dome is energy efficient. It will usually save fifty percent on heating and cooling costs compared to a comparable conventional building.

Are they made of wood? No... The Monolithic Dome is a super-insulated, steel reinforced concrete structure used for homes, schools, gymnasiums, bulk storage facilities, churches, offices, and many other uses.
It has a tower, I like that, but I'd need more wrought-iron spikes if I was going to spend that much money on a house.
We watched this stunning chapel being built as we traveled to Taos over the years. From what I understand, most of the Labor was donated, and the view of it from the Rio Grande valley is surreal. The Stations of the Cross bronze sculptures on the trail up to the chapel are soul moving (and a good running trail to blow off the long drive). San Luis Colorado (the oldest town in Co)- if you go there you are making a mistake by not seeing the profound chapel built there. Stunning in it's old world simplicity and the views are..............
