Has a man-made structure ever effected you emotionally or spiritually?
It's something I've been thinking about since I discovered Second Empire plans nail what I would do, given a budget.
Monolithic Domes have real strength. They can withstand the force of a tornado, hurricane or earthquake. They cannot burn, rot or be eaten by bugs.
Are they made of wood?
Thanks for Prohibition and the war against drugs. Thanks for a country where nobody's allowed to mind their own business. Thanks for a nation of finks. Yes, thanks for all the memories-- all right let's see your arms!- William S Burroughs

No...
The Monolithic Dome is a super-insulated, steel reinforced concrete structure used for homes, schools, gymnasiums, bulk storage facilities, churches, offices, and many other uses.
Free nations are peaceful nations. Free nations don't attack each other. Free nations don't develop weapons of mass destruction. ~George W. Bush
It has a tower, I like that, but I'd need more wrought-iron spikes if I was going to spend that much money on a house.

Now that was just ugly. Square walls on a dome gives me flu-like symptoms.

"On a slightly foggy day, the house just about disappears, which is what we wanted." The Stitts achieved that effect by choosing just the right shade of blue paint for the outside of their Airform.

Wouldn't my Bugatti look nice in the drive for a picture of me whipping the servants?

We watched this stunning chapel being built as we traveled to Taos over the years. From what I understand, most of the Labor was donated, and the view of it from the Rio Grande valley is surreal. The Stations of the Cross bronze sculptures on the trail up to the chapel are soul moving (and a good running trail to blow off the long drive). San Luis Colorado (the oldest town in Co)- if you go there you are making a mistake by not seeing the profound chapel built there. Stunning in it's old world simplicity and the views are.............. It is a special place.

Yeah, it's spooky alright. I really do like Queen Anne style, though:

I don't know, I was just looking for the best example of a Queen Anne.
What kind of people would build such monstrous looking stuff?

Found it. It's the "Carson House," and it is indeed in Eureka, California. It was built 1884-1886 by Samuel Newsom & Joseph C. Newsom for William Carson.

William Carson was a lumber baron, who made his fortune logging the beautiful old growth California redwood trees. No wonder he had such a Satanic looking house built! ;)

I love the old Gothic cathedrals. I was raised as a Catholic so it's part of my background (of course, some of the old Protestant churches in Europe are pretty Gothified too). I love the way they soar to such heights, and have such a lacy look about them. I love the rose windows and stain glass and the gargoyles, and the sense of peace and quiet in the dark inside. I love that subtle smell of incense and all the statues and candles. A lot of churches have gone to electric candles now and it's just not the same.
Other than that....I basically like pretty much anything old except the Aztec/Maya stuff - creeps me out. I guess it makes me think of human sacrificies.
Wow, that's a beauty!!! The great thing about old buildings like that is their PERSONALITY which comes through in all the fine details and workmanship. Modern buildings are almost uniformly bland, if not hideous because they are totally lacking in details (and the scale is inhuman). I hate modern architecture.
Now Ed Wood isnt hokey...it's quirky!! I loved Johnny Depp in Ed Wood.. !
I thought his acting was great, it was a quirky movie and I liked it too.
He showed his bottom teeth a lot when he talked in that movie, made me wonder if the real Ed Wood showed his bottom teeth a lot when he was talking. I also like the way the movie portrayed his propensity for wearing women's clothes, how when he'd get stressed out he'd put on woman's clothing items, and how his first wife dealt with it and the way it all progressed. I just enjoyed that whole movie, many aspects of it. I thought it was so weird how when he'd get under pressure he'd go for a piece of woman's clothing and put it on the same way many people feeling that way would go for a drink or smoke cigarettes or start screaming at those around them.
It was one of those movies I found myself thinking about a lot for a few days after I saw it.
I did see Glen and Glenna on Dutch tv (they had good programming at the time) some years ago and it was a scream in it's own way!

Does scarred for life count? ;)
When prosperity comes, do not use all of it. - Confucious The nation is prosperous on the whole, but how much prosperity is there in a hole? - Will Rogers There are 9,000 hedge funds out there.
