This is the best racing ever. Prior to computers, there really was no substitute for cubic inches. Tom was very busy with the 4.5 L2L steering and the 8" throw on the shifter. Put unneeded hair on my chest just watching it.
When I lived in Lebanon and was driving for IWX, we had to start out on the relay from Springfield out to Kingman, AZ. It was a midnight leave every week.
There was a race track over there and the roaring cars kept me awake in the evening. It was hard to stay awake on the run, but I did it.
One time there was a little box truck in Oklahoma. It had dim tail lights. I look in mirror and there were too many cars passing. I look back up front and we were too close. I hit the brakes and my co-driver rolled out of the bunk. He told me it had happened before. LOL
That is one of those memories I am lucky to get back after the meningitis. ;)
They were running T-Birds in NASCAR 1958-60, so it is historically accurate. I like that generation, although I admit it is a bit on the baroque side. The ugliest Birds were, IMO, 1980-82, which looked like a bloated Fairmont.
I love how the driver just bounces and slides through turns like he's driving a quarter midget on a dirt track.
