I remember someone arguing that yes, the 6 million figure is somewhat of a special number in Jewish lore going back at least 100 years and likely much more, perhaps not unlike 144,000 is for Jehova Witnesses (The number of saints that will be in closest company with God in the afterlife after the end of the world divine fireworks go off).
I suppose the figure is symbolic for Jews when associated with persecution and such. I can certainly believe the 6 million figure we grew up with as the number of Jewish dead at the hands of the Nazis has it's source in lore predating WW2, and I understand that figure, which was spread through the USA after the war and was a number we grew up with, came from Stalin's Russia.
That's not to say, however, that Jews were not persecuted by Germany in WW2, and there were not mass casualties. All sides suffered that in WW2. Evidence seems clear that there were concentration camps, likely forced labor camps where many Jews did die, and that's consistent with the reputation of Germans being good engineers and efficient-minded people. So in my view, saying the entire episode related to the so-called "holocaust" did not happen or is a hoax is not accurate. I think it is likely an exaggeration (and I certainly believe the 6 million figure is, as implicitly corroborated, reportedly, by the plak claiming some 4.2 million dead at Auschwitz being taken down).
The truth is somewhere in between, and naturally anyone with a vested interest in things Jewish, including Jews themselves, will spin the facts in their political favor.

The 144,000 are 12,000 Jew believers in Christ from each tribe.
So, that means that there is a remnant on earth from each tribe.

It seems it doesn't matter if any of it is true or not. They know they can fool the goyim, and it seems they think they can fool God.

Of course, that number of six million "gassed" at Auschwitz is a total fallacy. Those camps were called "death camps" because of the Typhus epidemics which raged thru them. Even Anne Frank died of Typhus.
