MAYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- A teacher seen punching a student during a fight at Maywood Academy High School is gaining support as a GoFundMe set up for him is raking up thousands of dollars.

The Friday afternoon fight, which was captured on video, involved 64-year-old music teacher Marston Riley and a 14-year-old student. The student was transported to an area hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

Riley was arrested and booked for child abuse but posted bond over the weekend. He is getting support - a GoFundMe account set up for him has raised more than $50,000 as of Monday afternoon.

Only if he isn't a black racist. Black racists can call whites crackas,honkies,etc,etc,etc,and that is perfectly acceptable.

The teacher is SUPPOSED to be a man. Men don't throw punches at children for slurs.

It's OK to hit a student if he is a threat. Many times the one belligerent student striking out against a teacher incites his/her fellow students.

I think the whole notion of integrating the schools was to disrupt the white students ability to get educated. I attended a High School in Indianapolis that had 10,000 students and the make up was about 50/50 black and white. We had race riots on a regular basis. The difference being that all students were treated the same and none were permitted to act belligerent or assault the teachers.

Schools today have kids carrying guns and knives to class and the situation may occasionally call for the teach - to teach a belligerent brat the hard lessons of life.

Our society is collapsing before our eyes as a result of acceptable mediocrity and a definite lack of discipline.

Depends on the age and size of the student,and how threatening they are. That kid needed the snot beaten out of him. It's a damn shame the one he picked to do the job fights as well as a 8 year old girl. I wanted to see teeth and blood flying.

If it's worth doing,it's worth doing right.
