He has reentered the government scene with a fury, penning an op-ed in the WaPo declaring a plan to take revenge on the president for destroying his gay-ass fake conservative movement. Basically, hes going to become the medias goto true conservative who thinks Trump is evil figure, replacing Jeff Flake and Bob Corker and being even more powerful because so many more people recognize him. You can do read The Washington Post column he published on New Years Day, if you are into such things, but I just summarize it. Trump is bad for firing Mattis and abandoning allies (I guess he means to imply the Kurds, who have already allied with Assad, but what he actually means is anti-Assad fighters like ISIS). So, that is a lot of jumping around when you do it in list form like that, is it not? But its what he wrote. You can go check it. It is slightly more coherent in paragraph form, but not really. I must say: this reads less like a declaration of a Senate agenda and more like a presidential platform. It is of course all of the same, same, same, same tired bullshit, that has completely failed to gain any traction at all, and what forced Flake and Corker to resign. This simply is not something that people are buying anymore. Mitt had to return to Utah to run for Senate, in order to be among his co-ethnics, co-religionists. There is no way he could have won anywhere else, without that collective to support him. It becomes ironic that this is the only way an ostensibly anti-collectivist politician can get elected. Is he actually going to launch a primary challenge in 2020? I think he is thinking that he is going to do that, but he isnt going to get any traction. The real threat would be if he ran as a third party candidate. That is really the only way a Democrat could win. And obviously, based on what hes just laid out as his principles, he would much prefer a Kamala Harris to a Donald Trump. I guess well stay tuned on this. But its for sure an ominous declaration.
