As you may recall, former governor of Massachusetts and failed presidential candidate Mitt Romney is taking a seat in the Senate in a couple weeks.

He has reentered the government scene with a fury, penning an op-ed in the WaPo declaring a plan to take revenge on the president for destroying his gay-ass fake “conservative” movement.

Basically, he’s going to become the media’s goto “true conservative who thinks Trump is evil” figure, replacing Jeff Flake and Bob Corker and being even more powerful because so many more people recognize him.

You can do read The Washington Post column he published on New Year’s Day, if you are into such things, but I just summarize it.

Trump is bad for firing Mattis and abandoning “allies” (I guess he means to imply the Kurds, who have already allied with Assad, but what he actually means is anti-Assad fighters like ISIS).
America is not a “sucker” for fighting endless Middle East wars.
I did not support Donald Trump.
Trump is a mean person for calling other people mean names.
He has “not risen to the mantle of the office.”
I agree with his tax cuts and trade war with the Chinese (I was surprised about the latter, but I guess cuckservatives can’t defend their “free trade” thing anymore, sacrificing it to gain ground on the endless war and immigration fronts).
“A president should unite us and inspire us to follow ‘our better angels’” (I don’t know what this means, it must be some Mormon cult thing).
Everyone should be respectful.
The president has a bad personal character.
The president is not a friendly person.
America should be using principles to strengthen global democracy and provide the entire planet with freedom and equality.
The world is shocked by Donald Trump.
The number of people in Germany, Britain, France, Canada and Sweden who believed the American president would “do the right thing in world affairs” dropped from 84% in 2016 to 16% in 2017.
The Soviet Union shall return again to crush democracy.
The Philippines is friends with China now.
If the US doesn’t run the world with democracy, China and Russia will run it with “autocratic, corrupt and brutal” tactics.
It is good for the world for America to rule the world and it is also good for America.
If authoritarianism runs the world, there will be no prosperity, freedom or peace.
In order to continue ruling the world, America must fix her domestic politics.
The President must unite and inspire.
Donald Trump is a racist.
We should have a balanced budget.
We are strongest with globalism.
I will work in the Senate to promote all of the things I just listed.
I will support Trump’s policies if I agree with them, but will usually attack him.
But I won’t take the time to attack every single tweet, just some of them.
In particular, I will attack Trump for being “divisive, racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, dishonest or destructive to democratic institutions.”
I am optimistic.

So, that is a lot of jumping around when you do it in list form like that, is it not?

But it’s what he wrote. You can go check it. It is slightly more coherent in paragraph form, but not really.

I must say: this reads less like a declaration of a Senate agenda and more like a presidential platform.

It is of course all of the same, same, same, same tired bullshit, that has completely failed to gain any traction at all, and what forced Flake and Corker to resign. This simply is not something that people are buying anymore.

Mitt had to return to Utah to run for Senate, in order to be among his co-ethnics, co-religionists. There is no way he could have won anywhere else, without that collective to support him. It becomes ironic that this is the only way an ostensibly anti-collectivist politician can get elected.

Is he actually going to launch a primary challenge in 2020?

I think he is thinking that he is going to do that, but he isn’t going to get any traction.

The real threat would be if he ran as a third party candidate. That is really the only way a Democrat could win. And obviously, based on what he’s just laid out as his principles, he would much prefer a Kamala Harris to a Donald Trump.

I guess we’ll stay tuned on this.

But it’s for sure an ominous declaration.

Rand is spot on about Trump, and the war hawks certainly do not want to end the war in Afghanistan. If Trump ends the war in Afghanistan we can save millions of dollars and bring those men home.

Now Trump needs to meet with Putin and get the ball rolling on ridding the world of evil. After all, we had been friends with Russia for many years until the Bolsheviks took over. ;)
