Acetone is fingernail polish remover. It will eat the hell out of all the plastic and rubber that it touches in your car. You'd better not let it touch your skin, either for very long, either.

I've run across these articles before about putting acetone in your tank. If anyone does, and does it long enough, you might as well get another car.

The stuff is extremely nasty.
