The first Senate bill of the year has taken on those who seek to boycott Israel over its treatment of Palestinians. In a complicated maneuver, the Senate has voted to allow states to boycott the boycotters. Is it a free speech/First Amendment issue? Supporters of the bill say no. Many civil libertarians disagree. We weigh both sides of the argument in today's Liberty Report:
"It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brush fires of freedom in the minds of men." -- Samuel Adams (1722-1803)
"Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God." -- Thomas Jefferson
The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable. ~ H. L. Mencken
The more overt pro-Israel/Jew control there is over US legislation and politics, the more "anti-semitism" is generated and the more sympathy it will generate for historical "anti-semites" that were demonized.
Apparently, the pro-Israel community / Zionists are not concerned about this. It seems they want to control behavior AND control their image. I think they need to choose one or the other.

12:14 ex. If a boycott supports the far Left, it's ok. If it supports another group, then (Leftists) complain about it
13:38 about one country: Israel - ok to boycott U.S. and other countries, ex. South Africa Apartheid / earlier example: Germany
15:00 Free Market approach / an issue not discussed: discretionary v. forced pension plan investments
15:46 D-MD Sen. Cardin legislation to criminalize boycott of Israel
