The founder of China’s electronics giant Huawei says a campaign of pressure by the United States targeting his company will fail to “crush” the firm. The US has filed 23 charges against Huawei and Meng Wanzhou, who is the daughter of Huawei’s founder — Ren Zhengfei — and the chief financial officer of the company. Meng was arrested in Canada in December last year at the request of the US, which is pursuing her extradition. Speaking to BBC in his first interview since Meng’s arrest, Ren dismissed the US charges as politically motivated. “Firstly, I object to what the US has done. This kind of politically motivated act is not acceptable,” he said. “The US likes to sanction others. Whenever there’s an issue, they’ll use such combative methods,” Ren said. “We object to this. But now that we’ve gone down this path, we’ll let the courts settle it.” US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo last week warned American allies not to deploy Huawei technology, saying it would make it more difficult for the US to “partner alongside them” if they did. Ren implied that the US was seeking to push Huawei out of global competition. “There’s no way the US can crush us,” he told the BBC. “The world cannot leave us because we are more advanced.” “Even if they persuade more countries not to use us temporarily, we can always scale things down a bit,” he added. ‘We don't install backdoors’ Commenting on the US accusation that China is using the firm for international espionage, Ren said allowing spying was a risk he would not take. “The Chinese government has already clearly said that it won’t install any backdoors. And we won’t install backdoors either.” China has already taken sides with Huawei. China says the United States’ legal measures against Chinese electronics giant Huawei are prompted by “political manipulations,” following a move by Washington to formally indict the chief financial officer of the company. “For some time, the US has used state power to discredit and crack down on specific Chinese companies in an attempt to strangle the enterprises’ legitimate and legal operations,” the Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday in a statement released by spokesman Geng Shuang. “There are strong political motivations and political manipulations behind the actions,” Geng said. The development came after the US Justice Department declared 13 counts of indictments against Huawei Technologies, its Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou — who is currently out of custody on bail in Canada while awaiting an extradition hearing — and two affiliates that Washington accuses of having violated US sanctions against Iran. Germany, France and others are moving toward other applications for their Government and defence because they realise how they are too reliant on US products and how compromised they are using them. The Israelis have been developing software which spies on the USA and others on an industrial scale and to run drugs and criminal activities throughout the World (AMDOCS, Infosys, Converse, Promis, Prism etc) They even supplied the cell phone tapping capability which enabled the Saudis to take over Khashoggi's phone which lead to his death. The Chinese are a long way behind these two players in using these systems for surveillance and more nefarious activities. Tatarewicz...
