This past weekend, Aaron Russo’s movie received enthusiastic ovations from combined crowds numbering more than 1600. Last Thursday evening, “America…From Freedom to Fascism" played at downtown Chicago’s upscale independent bookstore, Transitions Bookplace. On Friday night, writer and director Russo personally presented the 4-minute movie trailer to a packed and energized crowd of 500 at the “Kinetic Playground”, a nightclub that Russo owned and operated years ago when he was involved with the music production side of the entertainment industry. It was during this period that Russo brought the famous rock group Led Zeppelin to America and managed the career of actress/performer Bette Midler. Watch the PREVIEW On Saturday, Russo’s film played to about 700 people who gathered at the historic ARCADA Theatre in Chicago’s western suburb of St. Charles. Following the showing, Russo was greeted by throngs of well-wishers thanking him for having the courage to make the movie and seeking his autograph on the WTP brochures that had been distributed at the event. On Sunday, the movie screened to a full theater in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where 300 people again expressed their strong appreciation for the movie. Below are some pictures from the Chicago event. Christine; my wife and I just caught the screening in Londonderry, New Hampshire this afternoon. Oh, my G-d. If ever I wanted to 'Clockwork Orange' a society, and FORCE them to watch a film; it would be this one. Unbelievable. You may go into this film thinking you are pretty familiar with the contents, but until you see ACTUAL VIDEO of the IRS reps dancing around the legal truth, dodging and weaving around the facts; you just haven't lived. Russo has done a BRILLIANT job filming this documentary...I have never seen ANYTHING like this. The 'man in the street' interviews are brilliant, as people are confronted with the truth. Russo asks "Have you ever seen the LAW that requires you to pay an income tax?", and the people just stand there with their jaws slack. Ron Paul? Tremendous...quite possibly the only man in Congress that gives a damn about the American people, the country, and our Constitution. If this comes to your area, you MUST go out of your way to see it...it is THAT important. Here in the People's Republic of New Hampshire, the theatre was packed. Not one seat was available; the overflow had to sit on the floor or the steps leading up to the nosebleed seats, where we sat. I hope this film does get the wide-release they speak of this summer, or that it becomes available on DVD...thanks for the tip, Christine....can't thank you enough. Can't wait to see it again. (Volume 1? There is MORE of this coming???)
