NKorea Calls for Pompeo to be Dropped from Talks Thursday, 18 April 2019 04:00 PM North Korea said on Thursday it no longer wanted to deal with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and that he should be replaced in talks by someone more mature, hours after it announced its first weapons test since nuclear talks broke down. The North's official KCNA news agency quoted senior foreign ministry official Kwon Jong Gun as warning that no one could predict the situation on the Korean peninsula if the United States did not abandon the "root cause" that compelled North Korea to develop nuclear weapons. The statement came shortly after North Korea said leader Kim Jong Un had overseen the testing of a new tactical guided weapon, which KCNA said had a "peculiar mode of guiding flight" and "a powerful warhead." It was the North's first weapon test since talks in Vietnam between Kim and U.S. President Donald Trump in late February broke down over conflicting demands by North Korea for sanctions relief and by the United States for North Korea to abandon its nuclear program. Still, acting U.S. Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan told reporters at the Pentagon that it was "not a ballistic missile," appearing to play down concerns. At the same time, he noted: "There was a test." KCNA gave no details on the weapon that was tested on Wednesday, but "tactical" implied a short-range weapon rather than the long-range ballistic missiles that have been seen as a threat to the United States. KCNA quoted Kwon, who is in charge of U.S. affairs, as saying the Vietnam summit, the second between the two leaders, showed that talks could go wrong "whenever Pompeo pokes his nose in." "I am afraid that, if Pompeo engages in the talks again, the table will be lousy once again and the talks will become entangled," Kwon said. "Therefore, even in the case of possible resumption of the dialog with the United States, I wish our dialog counterpart would be not Pompeo but other person who is more careful and mature in communicating with us." A spokeswoman for the State Department said it was aware of the report about Pompeo and added: "The United States remains ready to engage North Korea in a constructive negotiation."

(just kidding...) LOL I hope so. I think Trump knows that Bolton is an Uber-Neocon. You know the old saying, "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer." ;) It reminds me a bit of when I got into it with a brother and sister at the Cubby Bear Lounge across from Wrigley Field during a concert there. Me and another guy were standing in front of sound board. Some guy bumps into me and we both almost fell on the board. I grab him and he says, "Hey man, I was pushed." I look and this kid is pushing his way thru the crowd. I reach out and pop him in the head. His sister was right behind him. She started hitting me in the face. Then he started hitting me in the head. I pushed her away from me. Then I reached out and put my arm around his neck and pulled him in close so he could not hit me any more. Then I start pushing him toward the door. He tried to turn on me twice and I would push him. So I said, "Go ahead and turn around again." He did and gave him an open palm left, right in the kisser. It made that distinctive sound since I was wearing leather gloves - THWACK! He flew into the doorway and Archie grabbed him by the hair on top of his head and winged him out the door. One of our guys was standing on a chair across from the bar by a stairway the went into the basement since that is where the dressing room was. When I nailed that kid in the face he hollered, "Pancake face." Then his sister tried to kick me in the nuts from behind. She couldn't do it. I turned and grabbed her by the blouse and threw her out the front door. The woosie called his mother. She was standing there wanting to take notes. I told her, "They were both hitting me. Geo/politics is the strong suit of Trump. This has been missing since Reagan. Middle East is akin to Asia. For instance in Asia, China wants the US off Asian mainland. Looking into future, Russia does not want the US to leave. Russia and China do NOT want the US to leave Japan. Complex situation. The Middle East is the same admixture.

Russia and China know full well that if the US pulls out of Japan, the Japanese within one year will have nukes and the ability to deliver them. Russia also fears being left alone in Asia with billions of Chinese/Asians. Middle East is the same. The US withdraws in total and war will be on.
