I had a bottle of Magnesium Powder (citrate), Made In Israel in my hand and was about to add it to my shopping cart when i saw those words. It went back on the shelf quick. True Wal-Marx story.

I did the same with Sabra brand Hummus. I told the store manager I would start making my own Hummus. I will never buy Israeli.

They certainly seem to have a lock on the automotive wax pellet thermostat aftermarket.

I did some research and found that Pepsi co, owns that brand and is headquartered in Israel. I wonder how many other big name brands are headquartered there?

Stocking up on vitamins and medicinal herbs. Not so easy to find that kind of stuff in this small berg. Who'd have ever thunk that I'd turn into a health nut? Afterward I didn't quite make it up the third top step at the dentists office, and fell down a couple of steps. Might have cracked a rib so I just popped a codeine that I had left over from oral surgery. Not much you can do except to let it heal. See no point in going to the hospital for an x-ray and all that jive. Peace, lovey dovey. I have not bought a Sabra product in any form for several years. Sabra has also had a couple of recalls due to contamination in the product. The same applies to Dorot herbs (including garlic) which is sold in the freezer case at Trader Joe's and I think WholePaycheck. Both are made in the occupied territories in factories built on stolen land. I make my own Hummus and I like it better. Black Bean Hummus is a nice change of pace.

This mistaken belief stems from a misunderstanding of how barcodes work. A barcode only tells you which country a company is from, not where the contents of the product originate. What appears to be happening is that 871 is the Dutch barcode (and 500 is the UK one) and Israeli products are being sold by Dutch and UK (and even Irish)-based companies. To take a concrete example, in the case of Tesco ‘meat free mince’, Tesco is a UK-based company so the barcode is 500, even though the product inside is manufactured and packaged in Israel. What is important for barcode purposes is where the company who sells the goods are registered, NOT where the contents of the goods are produced, manufactured or packaged. A country can’t simply change its barcode assignation because it feels like it, it doesn’t work like that and barcode assignation is a complicated and regulated international process. This is just another reason to always look for the country of origin of a product and not rely solely on barcodes. Similarly, some things that may be made in a third country are sold by Israeli-registered companies with the 729 barcode, even though they may say (eg) ‘Made in Taiwan’ on the packaging. These should be boycotted too.
Update on cracked rib: Took an Ibuprofen 600mg this morning and it's working better than the Codeine. That's what Rand Paul took when he had his 6 broken ribs, no Codeine or other addictive drugs.
