US President Donald Trump has denied that US efforts to oust Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro have lost momentum, telling reporters “things take time” and that he has five alternative strategies for Venezuela.

Speaking at a press conference at the end of the G20 Summit in Osaka on Saturday, Trump was asked about his earlier response to the suggestion that the US had lost momentum in Venezuela, to which he replied it “takes time.”

“Problem is so many people are leaving Venezuela, it’s, like, going to be a ghost town. It’s a very bad thing that’s happening in Venezuela, nobody has seen anything quite like it, actually,” he told reporters.

Despite other leading nations urging caution the US supported an attempted ouster of the Maduro government in January when it recognized Juan Guaido as the country’s self-declared interim president. It also supported a Guaido-led “uprising” attempt in April and continues to place sanctions on the country. Despite this, Maduro remains in power and Guaido’s support is declining. Asked whether it was time to change strategies, the president said he had “five strategies” that he can switch to “at any moment”. “We have a lot things in store if we have to do that,” he said. “We don’t want to do anything, we don’t want to get involved to the extent you may be thinking, but we have a lot of alternatives, we have five different alternatives for Venezuela. We’ll see what happens.”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told Fox News in May that “military action is possible,” in Venezuela “if that’s what’s required.”

The US efforts continue despite other nations warning against interfering. China urged the US not to go down the “same old disastrous road” in March, saying it could “allow the law of the jungle to once again run amok.” Also on rt.com Venezuela foils ‘Maduro assassination & military coup’ plot

As recently as Wednesday Russian President Vladimir Putin questioned the US’s actions in Venezuela in an interview with the Financial Times. Putin asked whether it was “necessary to humiliate Latin American nations” by imposing government or leaders from the outside.

“Let us do the same in Japan, the US or Germany. What will happen? Do you understand that this will cause chaos all over the world?” he said. A June poll by opposition-linked Datincorp found 36 percent of Venezuelans recognize Guaido as their head of state, down from 49 per cent in February, and 41 percent recognize Maduro as president.

Guaido’s aides were exposed as having embezzled millions of dollars in US funds meant to pay Venezuelan army defectors earlier in June. Venezuelan authorities said Wednesday they uncovered another attempted assassination plot targeting Maduro and other senior officials.

This article makes me wonder if Trump has ever played "Spin the Bottle". ;)

Re: Regime Change [+ Color Revolutions]

Cross-referencing 4um Title: Neutrality Act of 1794 [18 U.S.C. § 960] Title correction: [18 U.S.C. § 960]

Intro: Proclamation of Neutrality

The Proclamation of Neutrality was a formal announcement issued by U.S. President George Washington on April 22, 1793 that declared the nation neutral in the conflict between France and Great Britain. It threatened legal proceedings against any American providing assistance to any country at war. ... Madison brought to light the strict constructionist's view of both the Constitution and the Proclamation, demanding that Congress, not the president, had full authority over all foreign affairs except those areas specified in the Constitution.

Neutrality Act of 1794

The Neutrality Act of 1794 makes it illegal for an American to wage war against any country at peace with the United States. The Act declares in part:

“If any person shall within the territory or jurisdiction of the United States begin or set on foot or provide or prepare the means for any military expedition or enterprise...against the territory or dominions of any foreign prince or state of whom the United States was at peace that person would be guilty of a misdemeanour"

[...]

One reason for the act was to create a liability for violation of Section 8 of Article One of the United States Constitution, which reserves to the United States Congress the power to decide to go to war. ... The Neutrality Act was reenacted and amended several times since, and remains in force as 18 U.S.C. § 960

18 U.S.C. § 960 - Expedition against friendly nation

Whoever, within the United States, knowingly begins or sets on foot or provides or prepares a means for or furnishes the money for, or takes part in, any military or naval expedition or enterprise to be carried on from thence against the territory or dominion of any foreign prince or state, or of any colony, district, or people with whom the United States is at peace, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

(June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 745; Pub. L. 103–322, title XXXIII, § 330016(1)(J), Sept. 13, 1994, 108 Stat. 2147.)

... amounts to a treasonous takeover of Congressional War Powers that jeopardizes the safety of other nation's people and ours too. ... it is something enforceable that could even result in impeachment of some elected or appointed government operatives. ...

It must be a bitch trying to reign in the CIA from the outside. I admit im not a big fan of Trump and i disagree with many of his policies but when we tweeted syria making a big show of the fact we were gonna throw missiles at them.. ooo that was such a big middle finger to the MIC. Credit where credit is due. He told thw war hawks no to syria, no to iran, no to further wars of foriegn wngagemwnt. To my centerist eye, it looks like he is doing his best.
